As the title says I'm getting rid of the piece of cr@p from my 749 as its killing my battery and giving me all sorts of problems. What is the best way to go about it? I know I should trace the wires back to the loom one at a time and disconnect the alarm ones and reconnect the loom ones by soldering and heat wrap them. Do I have to put the alarm in service mode? How is this done? Also whilst talking to someone about this who has removed one he mentioned a pin code for it or it will immobilise my bike totally. What's that all about? Cheers in advance. Penfold
The alarm/immobiliser should not interact with the ECU or Dash. Unless you want to keep the alarm and use it for something else, why do you need a pin number? Have a chat with The Bike Alarm Man : | Motorcycle Alarms and Advice. he may be able to give you a clue to what to do.
I have used him, hes a good chap and fitted a replacement alarm for me when mine went mad. Recommended guy and you can tell he really knows his stuff.
I ended up getting it removed by Chris Jackson at Jackhammer motorcycles in Stoke ( a small independent Ducati specialist) after a few local owners recommended him cost £35 quid and the service was excellent.... spoke to him myself first to see if he knew his stuff and he passed with flying colours.
