Day trip luggage

  1. I wonder if anyone has any ideas re a 'tail pack' for the Multi. Would prefer it to sit on a tail rack and ideally be secure-lockable.

Top boxes seem all to large for day trips with their associated lack of beauty! S'pose the size would be about 15 to 20 litres- enough to take waterproof over clothes, spare gloves, map and perhaps the occasional "picnic".

Aware of the Kriega tail pack but I believe they sit on the passenger seat and are not 'secure'.

  2. Buy a Kriega R20... I have 2, my mate has one. Brilliant little bags. Enough for a day trip. R20 stands for 20 litres, you get a 30 and a 60. And a 15 I think... Can't remember.

  3. +1 for Kreiga, top quality kit

  4. I have a Kriega tailback - it's not massive but it's a brilliant piece of kit and very secure...

  5. Aware of the Kriega tail pack -my mate has one-but I thought it attached to the pillions seat and not the tail rack.

Presumed it wasn't secure so probably cannot leave it on the bike when parked-though no great hassle to take off.

  6. How about fitting a proper rack, then you can fit a Kreiger or whatever to that. Unless you go topbox route, I cant remember seeing anything which you can secure in place while off the bike for security, unless you chain it thru straps.

  7. You can buy tailpacks that can be converted to a rucksack when off the bike but i dont think anyone makes a secure small tailpack.

  8. I use the Kriega 30 and it comes with a shoulder strap.

  9. Kriega US20. Totally waterproof, easily fastened to the bike in such a way that it won't fall off and they can be used with another US20 or a US10 if you need more capacity. They even have a small 'pocket' on them that zips closed to put stinking clothes in to avoid cross contamination.

Don't bother with the harness that turns them into a tank bag because they make shit tank bags and it's a waste of money.

  10. Trouble with Kriega stuff is it's a pain to get into. IMHO it's not designed to use as a substitute for tank/tail bags. It is great stuff but it's intended to be loaded in the morning and unloaded as night.

Like Spanish, I don't fancy full-on topbox so I thought about getting one of these and drilling it so it fixes straight to the existing rack on the MTS.

  11. I strap my Kriega bag on before filling it and then shove everything in, roll the top over to seal it and do the clips up. I'm not sure how some of their other styles work but the US range are dead easy.

If security is an issue then buy a Pacsafe stainless net and lock it over the top. A determined villain will still get in there but all you really need is to put them off a bit and they'll rob some other poor fool.

  12. I used to have one of these bolted to my FJR rear rack as a top box Peli 1150 Case lockable, waterproof and tough as old boots. Now they come in different colours as well.

  13. I just stick an old tankbag I got from lidls for fucks sake , Old fire extinguisher straps onto the rack and away yer go.. does the job. Fuck payin out for top end shite!
