Daytona Boots

  1. Are they really as good as the price suggests they should be??? i have several pairs in my dreams but wondering whether i should be saving pennies to make my dream come true??

  2. Which type?

  3. track oriented models esp sec evo

  4. Subscribing, always wondered about these myself.

  5. Brilliant. Can be a little restrictive tho s try them on

  6. A mate of mine is on his second pair and says they are brilliant. However, he likes the taste of aubergines so not sure he is a good judge of anything at all.

  7. ive recently taken to the purple blobs myself esp on the bbq with some seasoning, sumac and lemon

  8. You`ll probably love the Daytona boots too then. Go on, spoil yourself.

  9. Had a pair and couldn't get on with them. Comfort not that great and as above, found them restrictive on the upward gear changes. I know people who love them and there's no doubting the quality and protection.... Bit like lids, if they don't fit then they're no good for you. Try before you buy would be my advice.

  10. Are these the ones that look like garish socks? I can't understand how they offer better protection than the likes of the moulded alpinestars smx plus etc. Someone fill me in (gulp).

  11. I have had mine (one model down from the REALLY expensive ones) for over ten years now. They have a Goretex lining which is still 100% waterproof after all of this time. I am on my fourth pair of outers. The soles are VERY thin so you get excellent feel at the expense of durability. When you buy new outers you can match them to the colour scheme of your current bike! They are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned and they don't squeak (Alpinestars and Sidi take note!). I have quite wide feet and they fit me very well. Try before you buy, just like when buying a helmet.

  12. If you have an Infinity near you, they do stock a fair range of sizes. I'm normally a Euro size 46 but my Evos are 48s. As Nelly said a bit like Marmite and I fall into the "best boot I ever had" camp. Also ride in Dayton Road Stars on the road, warm and 100% dry. Andy

  13. I now have Roadstar GTX which is without doubt the most comfortable, best fit, totally waterproof.most expensive and might be best looking. Other users tell me they last forever, and In would only bug another pair if I am still alive by then. But as Nelly rightfully points out, if they don't fit your feet....do not buy them.

  14. I have wide feet & they do a extra wide size which is great & they are the best boots I've ever had, just looking for a new pair at the moment.

  15. As others are saying, with any footwear, fit is the first thing that absolutely has to be right. Looking for new waterproof boots recently, I was disappointed to find several types I was considering were simply too narrow unless I went up a size and ended up with too much room in front of my toes. I was very pleased to find a pair of Roadstar GTX in my size second hand - they fit like gloves, and that's without taking the special wide fitment as far as I can tell from the labelling. The quality of construction makes other boots I have look shabby. That said, if it weren't for the fit I would have been happy to try another premium brand.

I'd be interested to know if anyone has found good affordable substitutes for the rather expensive Daytona after-care products such as the waterproofer and zip lubricant (surely something obvious can be used for that?).

  16. i've got two pairs of daytonas, full on all weather touring pair and a pair of shorties for summer hooning with kevlar jeans. I'd never buy another brand of boot again

  17. I have been looking at the Security Evo's myself, Sports Bike Shop sell them, was going to order 2 sizes online to see what the fits like. At £829 they have to fit right! I have had other Daytona boots before and the quality has been superb.

  18. Surely silicon spray is the same thing as the zip lubricant? works a treat and stops other stuff squeaking as well incidentally!

  19. Jesus, @ £829 a pair I would be too afraid to wear them on my bike in case I fell off! :Banghead:

  20. I've got a couple of pairs, love them to bits. As mentioned above the comfort and style is not great but that's true of most motorcycle clothing, once your more that about 10 metres from a bike you look like a social misfit anyway. The protection they offer is second to none, have a look at what boots all of the top pure road racers are wearing, there is a reason, and its not sponsorship.:grinning:
