Db at Brands

Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by slumdog, Jul 28, 2013.

  1. Was thinking of an evening at Brands- have a straight through end can on a 999, what are the chances of getting through the sound test ? How do they test , is it at a certain revs ? No noisier than a Harley on the track perish the thought

  2. whats the limit for the event you are doing? Being honest, I cant be bothered typing anymore the same as you cant be arsed finding about noise tests etc.

  3. Don't bother then .. the question was directed at someone who knows not someone who hasn't a clue .. keep you negs to yourself ...

  4. The trouble with noise tests at track days is they never seem to be consistent. I've seen a bike pass in the morning and the same bike fail in the afternoon! Your best bet is to find if they have another event beforehand and see if they'll test it for you so at least you'll have an idea.

  5. It's 101db at evening sessions. Without baffles or a standard road can, you've two hopes.

  6. Thanks for the help guys.. I will go on a test run and get it checked out first :upyeah:

  7. I don't think you stand a chance. I can loan you a standard can to fit for the day.

  8. Thanks for that :- The initial test is 5000 rpm, a handheld device .5 m away and at 45 %- I think I will fail however I will look into getting a db device and check (£17.00 on ebay)
    Thanks for your help :upyeah:

  9. Save your money on the dB tester, I have one. The only thing that matters is what their dB tester reads!

Do yourself a favour and borrow my standard can, I will be coming to Brighton sometime next week I can arrange to meet you and loan it to you.

  10. If you can, pop down to the track before the session and ask them to check it for you. They'll be happy to do it at any track day.

  11. You might find this useful, this is from a recent prior post of mine about DB limits and repacking my Termi's.**--

I just bought myself a sound meter from ebay for £10.00, I have no idea how accurate it really is but it recorded 103.8db for my 748R without baffles and 101.4db with them in.

I compared that to my 748SPS at 102.8 without baffles. Both have carbon Termis. It is claimed that the meter is accurate to +\- 1.5db. It might be worth a thought as to buying one as it looks like it will give you ball park figures. I also suspect it fractionally over records.

I repacked my 748R Termis with Acousata Fil so it is interesting to compare the difference between all the readings, so clearly with my trackday coming up at the end of the month I am going to have to go with DB killers.
