Db For Ducati Only Track Days

  1. Evening All,

Having just seen the dates for the Ducati only track days at Sliverstone, the DB states 105 at 7.5k.
I run an Akrapovic on my V4S and with the pipewerx baffles fitted, I run at 108db at Cadwell but that's 4-5k from memory. Can anyone confirm if Sliverstone are strict as I would love to do this track but can't believe only stock V4's have attended in the past. Thanks all.

  2. Silverstone is a drive by at 102db. If you fail the drive by, you are tested static. Not sure where they get 7500rpm for a V twin, I've never been asked to rev a V twin at any UK circuit, even Castle Coombe. Hand on heart, if that is rigidly applied, I can see most Panigales running the race system with baffles, failing. My 1200 Multistrada tested 101 @5000rpm, no idea what it'll blow at another 2500rpm. 3. I got booted off a year ago for my Blade being too noisy.. and it was tested at 7500 when they came to see me in the garage :-( they're obviously under pressure from the council... no idea what the V4's blow when going around with Akra's but standard seem to be OK and I think the other thread on here should give a better indication.. I thought the Pipewerx baffles were meant to bring it down to 105?? will be interesting to find out as I'm getting a V4 very shortly and was looking at exhaust options that are Silverstone friendly..

  4. Okay, had a quick trawl of the internet and in general, there are exceptions, organisers follow ACU guidelines. In the guidelines there is a table of capacities, cylinder configurations and associated rpm. Over 750cc V-twins, the limit is 5000rpm. Where Silverstone get 7500rpm from, I have no idea. One troubling fact that emerged from my search, it is now common practice for local authorities to insist the drive-by limit is the determining factor, not the static and drive-by limits can be as low as 92db. As an aside, Brands Hatch GP circuit noise limit is lower than the Indie circuit. Andy

  5. @Android853sp I think they get 7500 as a rough guide to 3\4 revs... (which I think is on their site somewhere now) I can see why they do it for iL4's but can't imagine they'd make you do it for a twin, V4's ??? no idea, their testing the last couple of years seems to be random, they said my blade blew 109 at 7500 and the R1 in the same garage 111.. so me thinks they don't calibrate their readers that often....

  6. Thanks Andy

  8. I thought the 'Ducati' track days had a higher db limit? So that Desmo's and the like can come out and play! Or have I got that completely and utterly wrong?

  9. In the day, yes it was the case and Donington still run an ‘unrestricted’ day but sadly, with all the development that has gone on around the track at Silverstone over the last 2 or 3 years, the local council have were pressured into requiring lower limits. Andy

  10. Oh bugger. May well fail the static then. Termi’s with Termi baffles and no idea what they blow at. May need to pop down to Snetters and get them tested.
