Sorry about the duplicate post!!....its early and I am a cluckwit. Hi, I have just taken delivery of an excellent set of Decat pipes from Ben and would like to fit them to my bike asap with a stubby termi. However I have ordered a plug and play fueller, but this wont be with me for some two weeks and I am a bit worried about the engine running too lean without the cat. I cant have a full retune with you as yet as the bike is still under warranty. In your experience should I wait until I receive the fueller or, for the short term, will the bike be ok without it fitted?? I would be really grateful for your advice here. Should I wait for the fueller, or can I bolt Bens pipes on now? Thanks Ian
I've been running a 2012 s touring with Leo Vince decat pipework and either the OE end can or the Akrapovic end can. Been monitoring engine temp, fuel consumption and general running and there seems to be no negatives. Temperature rock steady, better fuel consumption and runs like a dream. Also about as noisy as a Diavel with the titanium Termignoni full system without db killers - bloody loud ! Andy
I had my 2013 remapped after 4 months last year. I would not worry about warranty issues. The only reason you would be declined is if the work was a direct result of what your claiming for. I had my service reminder reset and my mileage added back onto a new set of clocks. Along with a new tyre and an oil leak repaired and replacement heated grips. No quibbles from my dealer at all, and they know as I make sure they are aware not to reflash the ECU and overwrite the new map entirely. The firmware on the ECU is extremely modular so service reminders etc can still be done by the dealer.
I don't think you will have issues as you will still have sensors (lambda sonde ) fitted ???? These should correct the air/fuel mixtures. Of course you will have to do something about the exhaust valve which if you don't will come up with the dreaded exvl error.
Not convinced they will compensate enough, hence the need for fatducs and the like. I tried them on my 2013 but made no to worse difference. In the end I had the remap by CJS. Turns out the front was hideously lean without the cat. As for the fatducs not doing anything, it was believed that this was down to most of the changes to correct things on the dyno were through changing the spark map and not the fueling.
Thanks for the responses so far, well, the pipes are on (fairly effortless) and the new sound is stunning, and with Bens elongated baffle which extends into the Stubby the sound is soooperb. The fuelling does feel a bit 'fluffy' at the bottom end so as a precaution I am going to nail this puppy on to increase the fuelling marginally across the board!!.....I don't know if its if its in the mind or what, but it seems to go like cluck now!!
So I'm buying a decat, i thought it was just change for the std one, will this create a warning lamp then? Std can is still fitted
"Ben's elongated baffle"? Has that been made as a special to fit the Termi stubby and provide more noise reduction? Might be the ideal decat solution.
Installed a Mivv decat, with Mivv Suono. Was running a bit lean with 3rd gear (low rev) so decided to adjust that. Did an ECU re-flash, works like a charm now, no fuel consumption issues or any errors
As far as i'm aware the issue with changing to a decat is the exhaust valve. The system needs to be 'fooled' into believing the valve is still functioning so you either fit a 'plug and play' electronic gizmo or use a mechanical fix to stop an error message appearing on the dash. There are threads on here discussing the various options but I can't seem to find them at the moment unfortunately.....

This system really does look the mutts nuts......... ..........such a shame that once fitted, it can't be seen. I'm surprised that Ben hasn't/can't (?) produced the little front n rear header pipes to complete the full system look. There must be a demand surely? - maybe Andy could suggest it to him????? Having said that, in my mind this current offering is the best option available right now and if I was going to replace my system then it would deffo be this one.
I'll pass that on to Ben, good point although I suspect the demand for the decat alone is much greater than for full systems due to the total cost. That said if Ben produces them on request no issue for him............he'll need to get his hands on a pair of 'full bore' header pipes (e.g. Termignoni) though to take the measurements/dimensions etc. (sorry but I'm not willing to take mine off and loan to him! lol ;-))
Price, £270 (cheaper than MIVV, the cheapest 'brand' decat available) after 10% forum member's discount and quality of build + grade of stainless steel used (way superior to the likes of the MIVV decat for example) - a new small business venture by an experience exhaust system fabricator looking to branch out on his own. As for performance, very likely to exceed or at least match brand name decats - Chris at CJS Racing will be doing a full monty test and tune with one later this month. edit....almost forgot - good service from Ben as reported by all feedback earlier in this thread ;-) Meantime.....queue current users of Ben's decat for further comment.....
Was thinking maybe this doesn't have the "valve issue". Mivv is a fine brand, had Termignoni on my other bike. But always nice to support smaller companies, and there's not so many that do parts for Ducati's.
