The engine suddenly went dead during a ride. Got the message CAN 38.0. The workshop swapped the my performance ECU with my original ECU and the engine startet without problem. Is it just for me to buy a new (or used) performance ECU and go riding or must the bike in for engine/throttle adjustment after changing ECU? Have Termi slip-on. TIA
Before you write the DP ECU off, unbolt it from the heat sink (4 torx screws). Clean the back of the ECU and the heat sink with some emery or similar. Reassemble and try on your bike. Remembering the little earth fly lead that goes on one of the bolts. Some have even put a smear of copper slip between the ECU and heat sink.
If the ECU is duff I can help out converting an IAW5AM ECU from an 848/1098/1198/HM or SF into a DP one for your bike. eBay is your friend for a cheap ECU.
That's as far as you need to go. Clean the two surfaces in the first picture and reassemble. The ECU is the DP 96520309B for the 1198S.
