Dealer Trust Issues!

  1. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I'm currently in the market for a SF v4s, it's been my dream bike since I tried one out last year and yesterday I finally persuaded myself to head down to the dealer with serious intention. They didn't have anything new in stock, but had a 2020 in really nice condition that seemed like a decent deal. Originally I had been only interested in the 2021, post update, gen 2 as I had heard that the torque remap was a positive change. When I asked about it, he said that the only difference between the 2020 and a brand new one was covered by a software update that had already been done to the bike. Well, clearly that isn't true as the 2021 also has a different, euro 5 compliant exhaust and self-bleeding brakes (I found this out later). Seems like a bit of a red flag that he didn't disclose all the relevant info when asked. Makes me wonder what else he should, but isn't telling me.
    The bike still seems like a decent deal, but I was wondering if anyone here knows about this software update, whether the torque figures would be the same as the new one, and whether the other changes, eg. brakes and exhaust etc. would make it worthwhile to hold out for a 2021 and potentially pay more for?
    As a side note, the bike has 3600 km on the clock and the tires are basically worn out. Is this normal, or a sign that it's done most of is milage in a tight, smoking circle?!

  2. I will answer the Tyre question only

    Spirited riding rather than abusing will get through tyres at about that mileage or at least I do
     
  3. When the deal starts to niggle, little things that don’t seem or feel right. I get nervous. If it’s not quite the bike of my dreams,I walk. I know if I don’t I’ll always be just off the mark.

  5. If you don't feel good, walk away. There's plenty of other bikes available.

  6. Generally most of the Sales guys are just that Sales guys - who probably know less about what they are selling than a very enthusiastic buyer who will have done lots of homework.

  7. Thanks very much for your thoughts everyone, I ended up taking your advice and walked away. Just did't have a good feeling about this one. The search continues!
