Dealers

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Tomo, Mar 15, 2016.

  1. are there any Ducati dealers who actually deliver ON TIME what they say they will?

  2. Delivery is not in the gift of the dealer who can only pass on what the factory tell them about allocation. I know of at least one occasion where a promised delivery was diverted to a different dealer on the day it was promised with no reason given. Andy

  3. I'll take that as a no then!
My order has been placed wil not be changed.

  4. Some do. Some don't. But that's normally not the fault of the dealer as they'd like to sell the product and get the cash in for it. So it's not usually the dealers fault. They can only work with what they are given.

And I bet the same criticism can be levied at other manufacturers/dealers.

Ps. Thread moved to the correct forum :)

  5. I've been talking to a dealer over the last day or two about a secondhand bike they had in stock. What I was asking and he was saying didn't match at all. It was as if he was reading a script that he wouldn't deviate from.
Some things he was saying plainly just were not even true ( I'm a cash buyer , but he wanted to sell me finance at a rate he said I couldn't better ) I know they are on commission but goodness it was so off putting I wouldn't fancy the bike if free . ( ok I would but you get my point )

  6. I was quite fortunate with my dealer experience. When I bought my benelli the dealer didn't give me any negotiating room as it was the last new one left (take it or leave it) but didn't try and push finance when I told him i was a cash buyer. All in all the transaction was as straightforward as buying a packet of crisps.

  7. With ALL my previous purchases all Honda, I was told when the bike would be ready for collection and every single time the bike was there ready and waiting!

  8. Went to another dealer today , to look at a couple of Hypers they have. Emailed last week asking to book a test ride but no answer but thought I'd pop along after ringing today to check I could speak to someone and they would be free as I know it's busy.
Got there and was made to feel like I was pretty much not wanted. A girl pointed me to get a coffee which then didn't work , the salesman eventually came along and knew nothing about the bikes. And I mean nothing then after moving it so I could sit on one of the two then disappeared to talk to another person looking at a bike that was more expensive. Ok, yes he did pop back quickly then buggered off again but that was it .
I asked about a test ride as I'm still not 100% that a hyper is what I need but I'm told you need to put a deposit down first ( but in fairness he did say o would get that back if I didn't like it )
I know dealers see a lot of tyre kickers but I really was feeling like I was more of a problem then a buyer.

  9. Sometimes shit happens and you can't blame dealer or factory. My bike was delayed because the original one that was destined for me got stolen in transit. The replacement took two weeks from the time the original went missing. I thought that was pretty good. Probably not an issue for honda because nobody's going to nick one of them, right?

  10. Hi
I put a deposit down last week for a 1299s that dealer has in stock, was told ten days to get ready for collection, this then got moved to 23rd April as workshop too busy(16 days)
Now I have been told end of month due to no time in workshop(3 1/2 weeks) I think this very poor for customer relations, very bad for building faith in my dealers care for the customer, seems to me that now the sale is made they could not care less.
Three and a half weeks to pdi and fit a tracker, seems to me that it might not be in stock as they stated and now playing for time.
From a pissed off future 1299s owner.

  11. Hey Martin,
That's annoying but it's probably their busiest time of year because lots of people decide to get work done to get their bikes back on the road about this time. They still shouldn't be making commitments they can't deliver on though.

  12. agree with this, i had to book my 899 in for a service at hyside and they couldnt fit me in until the end of may! (this was at the end of march when i phoned them)

  13. I'd be seriously pissed off....

If a new bike is in stock, out of the delivery box, sitting on the floor how long does it take to pdi a bike ? As you say once they've got your deposit your just another customer and get to the back of the queue..

  14. You would think that paying so much for a premium bike you would get premium service to go with it, should have made a contract for delivery date or deposit back, then have freedom to shop around other dealers. Was told 23rd because they had a clear week leading up to that Saturday, now they need another full week?

I better book the running service now or might miss out on summer months riding.

My wife and I have had many new cars and bikes over the years, never waited more than a week if in stock, my last car from Land Rover, went from showroom to road in two days, and the service was first class.

  15. I had to wait a month for my used 848 to be serviced and have the belts done when I purchased it. Even then it was filthy when I picked it up

  16. While I love my rsv4 and don't want to get rid of it 2 years ago it was off the road for the whole summer waiting for rocker covers....I ordered 2 and one turned up to which I questioned and they said "we'll get it on order..." - at the end of august when italy essentially shuts....its the Italians....they just do stuff in their own time...
