Dealing With Superbike Factory

  1. So I bought my first big sports bike way back in December which was an 848 and I absolutely love it. However since having the bike and from almost immediately riding it out of the dealership it's had things wrong with it.

As soon as I rode off I realized the front light I saw in the factory was the main beam and my dipped main and sidelights didn't work, also the alarm they told me it was fitted with also didn't work. The mirrors were both wonky and one was missing a pin and in general the front end was just a bit weird.

Thankfully Neil over at corner speed totally sorted everything out for me and showed me that the the front end bad obviously been crashed, the magnesium subframe was cracked and the electronics were all absolutely fucked. The chain and sprockets are in horrific condition and the brake pads were shagged.

So obviously I paid Neil up and now I'm just over 300 quid down and I'm back to dealing win superbike factory trying to get them to reimburse me. Especially since I'm actually paying for the extended warranty.

Now technically they have sold me a bike that was unfit for roads, as those things are pretty essential for legality.

Does anyone know where I stand legally and how I could possibly get it back from them.

  2. I wouldn't personally go down the legal route unless you are forced. The dealer will have a set process for dealing with anyone who mutters the words "legal". If someone says that to me I'm instructed to ask them to communicate directly with our solicitors. This does nobody any favours as it totally cuts down the communications to zero.

The headlights are something that they will struggle to get away with without paying for as it requires them for road use. Who did the last MOT?

However the broken magnesium thingy isn't needed to be perfect to be legal. Used items sometimes have damage but I admit I'd never settle for a bike at this price unless it was near perfect. Neither is wonky mirrors as long as they function. Brake pads and chain are consumable items. Did you not inspect the bike prior to purchase?

Yes the dealer hasn't shown perfect manners but you also need to look after yourself and make sure the used bike what you are buying meets your expectations.

  3. Hi, please don't take this as argumentative but there are a few things to take on the chin, sprockets, brake pads and working lights should have been checked by you really on a used purchase.

The vague front end, sounds odd, is the frame bent? I agree they have been less than efficient! I think u should present the findings to the dealer principle first and offer a chance to reconcile, however tread carefully on the legal side because they will argue a good case!

Hope it's all sorted now and you are able to enjoy it as you would like :)

  4. I think you really have to give the purchasing dealer the opportunity to fix, or not before going somewhere else. Once you go somewhere else then they can argue that the problems were not there when the bike left their care.

I would contact the dealer and see what they say. If their customer service is good, then you may get something back, but I doubt you will get your £300 reimbursed.

  5. Did you pay a deposit or any amount on a credit card !

  6. I mean they've been alright with it just a bit slow and dodgy. Brake pads and chain etc I know I will cover and I'm fine with this.

Like I said the headlights I saw on with one light and figured that was fine. Until I rode off and realized the full beams were on. This is my first proper bike purchase so I probably missed a few things.

The only thing I'm asking them to cover is labor costs for taking the bike apart to find the problems timmwith the lights and the left rice and front end.

  7. A dealer won't pay another dealer a labour charge to do work they could do themselves for effectively nothing apart from time. Law states you have to allow dealer to rectify issues so now you've had nelly fix them you're only hope is goodwill.

  8. Aye that's the problem. Getting to nelly was easier closer and I can trust in a much better job from him. That's why I did it.

Don't fancy leaving my bike in macclesfield forever.

  9. In which case you'll have to chalk it up to experience. £300 isn't loads to pay to know the bike is all ok now.

  10. Edit out the supplying dealer and give them a chance to put it right"......
Putting this on public forum that they may read or hear about will only get their backs up!

  11. THANK GOD. that i found this post. wow.

I made this account to post about the shitstorm that is Superbike factory.
I bought a hypermotard from them and had stand problems, they fixed it 3 times in total and i still ended up with a broken side stand.

they will not put your bike right.
if you've not gone through a finance company i suggest you go through court and take the bike back, i loved my hyper but i went back to finance, they inspected it and the bike has now gone and i got some money back.

They are a bunch of wankers that don't give a shit about anyone or anything but they act as if they do, i had nothing but issues with these pricks, they won't let me speak to the director who must be a waste of space as he's apparently never there, the saleman "Tom" is a peice of shit as well, thinks he knows alot but in reality he's just a shit salesman who knows jack shit about bikes, he just reads the spec sheet from google.

Happy to post more... loads more to grumble at give me a shout! i'll even speak to you on the phone i hate them that much!
