1200 DVT Decat Dvt

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by KamV2, Dec 27, 2020.

  1. I had one fitted for about 2 days then took it off, way to loud for my liking.

I removed the old end exhaust which is easy enough, to get the cat off I had to undo right from the front where it bolts onto the head and then it would slip off easy enough, I managed to wriggle the cat down but without undoing the front pipe it simply would not come off, watch out for the two wires for the sensor, reverse for putting the new one on, lying down you need three hands .

I also have the healtech under the seat, there are two (if I remember correct) connections on the right hand side with the seat off, it clips into one of them, there is somewhere on here a more detailed explanation of this but it’s easy.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  2. If anyone ever comes up with a quiet decat, I may be interested, but I do not want a bike that makes a racket again, been there and done that

  3. Try the full system Termi. A bit pricey, but doesn't sound too loud IMO :grinning:.

  4. All you have to do is baffle the can instead. Longer the can, quieter the sound

  5. Ime no louder than the standard system really. Just deeper.

  6. There's really four things at play:
    Tone is improved
    Weight savings is significant
Increased power is improved albeit marginal
Look is worse than stock (relative to a Pikes Peak).
I agree with those that wrote that the full Termgnoni is not overly loud. Certainly more civilized than the SC-Project on my Monster.
I would love the weight savings and uncluttering the bottom end of the bike.
My issue is a personal one and highly subjective. I can't get past the look of the full Termi silencer.
I find the titanium silencer huge (nearly 2X) and not as good looking as the Pikes Peak Carbon Fibre Termignoni.
    And then there's the price.

  7. That’s why it’s quieter: take the cat out you need to add some baffle somewhere.

  9. I did consider the Akra, it does IMO look nicer. I was however concerned about the volume of noise it would generate. Additionally the Termi system does seem to improve the fuelling, as mentioned elsewhere on this forum, and the slow speed ride-ability, well it does to me at least. I don't think the end can looks too bad really, but overall the system looks a lot better with out that huge, heavy CAT sitting underneath the engine.

  10. @grahamg
The fuelling is not an issue on the stock 1260 like it was on the 1200 DVT.
It would be nearly impossible to improve the flatness of the 1260 torque curve as this dyno chart shows.

However, adding a full Akra would require a Rapidbike.

I don't want to start another thread as this topic has been beaten over real good.
I would like to simply De-Ugly the Cat with ceramic coating.
There's some great info on this forum about the work some of our brothers have done in this context.

The ugliness and the weight of the stock Cat-Box are its major points of contention.
This has been solved with the stock OEM titanium Akra fitted on the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 as shown here:

It's not going to happen but out of curiosity, how many of you would have agreed to buying a homologated titanium & aesthetically finished Cat-Box if it had been (or was) available?

  11. If only leo vince had made one for the DVT, had one on an MT10, small silencer just before the can, made a huge difference to the sound, nice and throaty but not too loud, no idea why they never made one for the DVT

  12. Job done in 2h , the cat is out 5Kg lighter bike :D... I tried to upload video with sound but its not possible here :pensive:
for me its not too loud ... I actually really like it !! But for MOT and longer touring trips I will install db killer from Ebay..just need to find the right size .
I test ride it today and can say that throttle response improved !!!! And it feels like the bike got more power now!!
Do you guys think i need to get id dyno and remap now ?

  13. Can’t speak for the DVT but my first generation 1200 ran fine with the stock O2 sensors coping with the fuelling. With the DVT, I believe from posts on here, you will need to look at an after market plug and play electronics box rather than a dyno map. There was word that CJS cracked the DVT ECU but I’m not sure anyone else offers a bespoke map. Andy

  14. I've put my 1260 on the Dyno without having changed the exhaust like you have.

On a 1200, I would Definitely buy 1) a Rapidbike unit and 2) put it on the Dyno thereafter for fine tuning.

  15. Out of interest can anyone who has a 1260 with the full Termi system tell me if the snatchy throttle pick up and I mean the transition from 0% throttle to on throttle is improved and I mean less snatchy. I already have the throttle spacer fitted which has improved the problem but it isn't cured completely.
