Well I decided that I don't like any of the aftermarket exhausts for the 2014 multi except the QD and quite frankly 1800 is rediculous money so gonna go with a decat pipe. Talking to the dealer it won't void my warranty if it's a reputable company and fitted by a proper dealer. That's no probs but he also said it would cost around 1000 to get it tuned or it would ride lumpy compare to stock. Now is this correct? And if so does anyone know where I could get it done cheaper bearing in mind I'm in East Sussex. Cheers P.s reccomend decat pipes also welcome.
I had my bike tuned by Chris at CJS near Bristol, 500£ and he does a great job! However I would say first put the decat on and see how she goes.....that made the biggest difference I found! Important is that it gets tuned in each gear....not sure why, but Chris is strong about this!
I second that , Chris at CJS is the man, bike is totally awesome now. Went for the Leo Vince Decat pipe that also is favoured by Chris. It does add quiet a bit of noise , but I like that
I just put decat on mine, with std can, way too loud but with flapper mod ran perfectly and definitely more oomph. Took it off tjo, it was too loud, need end can with baffle
O no. I like it loud but not to loud. I have to tour on it. I will see how it goes. Does no one know of someone who could tune it near East Sussex? I appreciate you guys probably aren't from round here. What about pro twin? Also you guys recon Leo Vince or mivvi? Cheers
Just a decat is too loud. Motogp loud! Imo. So I put cat back on and lost the extra oomph until I can pick up a decent 2nd hand can at a good price
Ok cheers I just had a look on the leovince web page and they do a DB baffle for the stock can, dunno if that's cheaper. Here's the page. Info. At the bottom DUCATI 1200,S MULTISTRADA DECAT CONVERSION, CATALYST ELIMINATOR
I've just bought some Leo Vince headers but not sure when I'll be able to get down to see Chris and I have a 300 mile ride to get there, will the bike run OK or will the leanness cause any damage?
Leo Vince no longer made. This was the cjs first choice decat last year. I've heard the leovince £55 sliencer add on is useless, someone on here has one for sale. Decat with standard exhaust can will get you nicked, way too loud. You have 24 maps in your ECU. One spark and one fuel map for each gear, then a set of these for the front horizontal cylinder and another 12 for the rear vertical one. Eàch engine tunes differently, as does each cylinder.
The Leo Vince web site still shows the mid pipe as available, though would not be the first time a web site was not updated. The end can however is no longer listed on their site in either ti or carbon. Ebay.it has plenty of mid sections available. Worth getting one if anyone is thinking about it and if they have indeed stopped production. leo vince multistrada | eBay
Surely you can't just put a decat pipe on without a suitable end can and re-map, even if the o2's are still connected the fuelling is going to be way out even with the supposedly smart ecu, when mine went to Chris at CJS with dealer fitted full termi and up map the fuelling was out.
I do know, because it was as smooth as with the cat. No hesitation, lurching, anywhere. Pulled well, better than with it fitted, but too loud. You don't have to spend £500 to get the fuelling right, most just switch a can yet you rarely hear of any going pop thru being too lean. Stop being all Daily Mail
I could take this view more seriously if you'd done even the smallest of investigations. Sooting in the exhaust? What colour are the spark plug electrodes? "Popping too lean" What do you think over fueling sounds like?
Thats exactly how mine was with the dealer fitted full termi, race air filter and up map, it used to pop on deceleration a bit, I thought it was cool, when chris showed me the maps and dyno runs it was out quite a lot in several gears, I can't start to explain how the maps on the new mts work but as has been said the ecu has several maps and options to choose in each gear, and that's why power commanders etc can't really cope with the mts, I'm not trying to blow Chris's trumpet, I went to him with an open mind as to his knowledge and with the air mod done on my bike, but when its there in front of you on a pc screen and explained in simple terms I kind of got the basics, its not until you have it set up right you'll realise how far out it is and how the mts should run, and thats on mine with the full termi, up map etc remember.
Sigh. If you want to sling money up the road, fine. Just dont try and scare others into doing the same. Walk around any bike meet, growlers etc fitted to loads and guess what, most haven't had a full custom dyno, just stuck it on and let the sensors and ecu sort it out
