Decibels At Croft

Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by ibgarrow, Dec 18, 2019.

  1. I’m planning to take my Supersport (2018) to Croft. It has a full Akrapovic system on, which sets off my car alarm as I pass! has anyone experience of Croft’s decibel testing? I am reluctant to turn up to be refused access, but equally reluctant to switch exhaust systems.

  2. I've not been for years since the noise limit was introduced but I think you might struggle even on the noisy days.

Hopefully someone who has been recently will have a better idea.

  3. It was 102db last time I was there. I was on my 1098R with 70mm system, no baffles. And no issues with noise police.

  4. Speak with the people in question that make the rules and not hearsay.IMO

  5. The thing is, I don’t know what level my Bike’s emitting. Baffles are in as standard, but it still concerns me that I may be in danger of refusal...
Short of being pulled over by the police, is there a way to measure my sound level beforehand?

  6. You could get a rough idea with a sound level app and a smartphone.
    iPhone or Android

  7. Pretend you're doing a track day at Cadwell. Simply join the queue for noise testing, check your score with the nice man, then fuck off into the distance :):upyeah:

I really should write Top Tips for the Viz comic :D

  8. I used to fit a noddy silencer to an old bike (tuned CCM supermoto with factory race pipe) for its MOT on the understanding that they'd fail it on noise. Have a talk to your local MOT station & ask if they test for noise level....

  9. Plenty of handheld db meters available for under 40 quid. They may not be top notch/certified but will be good enough
to show if you are borderline noisy and also which direction any of your silencing mods take you.
Its a minor investment if you plan to track ride a lot.

  10. If you live close to a track most of them will do a sound test for you. I know Croft will especially if you go round when there is something on.
They are pretty strict but they have 105db days on and that's pretty loud.
Last time there I think my bike did 89db....
