Bought the above. Arrived did not work. Sent back, replacement eventually arrived, did not work. Now told that this plug and play needs a direct feed because the relay OEM is not compatible. How do I make this thing work? Bike is a 2004 Multistrada 1000ds. Shown on the web site as simple fit and attach the spade fittings. I find that although the original Denso OEM works fine, it is just too quiet at motorway speeds or in heavy traffic. I can return and be given a credit but pain in the derrière especially with lockdown. Love all things mechanical, detest electrics.
The reviews state simple plug & play. Unlike my Denali soundbomb,...did you try swapping the spade connectors around & having the engine running?
Yes, swapped spades over. Engine off and engine on. Instructions say plug and play and not polarity sensitive. Original Denso works fine with ignition on running or not.
Seems I have to have an adaptor to use as a trigger for the horn to work. £13.50 on top of the horn price. So not simple plug and play as described. They sent two before their people realised that despite their listing my dear old bike needs an adaptor. Hate wasting time on petty things. At my age I only buy ripe fruit.
Use a standard 4 pin relay. Connect pin 30 of the relay to the battery via a suitable fuse (15A?). Connect the +ve terminal of the horn to pin 87. Connect the -ve terminal of the horn to a good ground point. Connect the OEM horn wires (violet/black & black) to pins 85 and 86 of the relay. That should get it working.
Got a soundbomb on my hyper 1100 - the big one....id say no matter what you need a relay installed....
Supplier not being helpful or maybe shut down. If they do not help ie take the horn back and refund or supply the adaptor they should have known was needed as the horn is not a plug and play as described I will put the name on here. This has been dragging on for a month.
Use the oem horn supply to trigger a 20amp relay, and run a separate 10amp Fused feed to the relay. Then to the horn. I have 2 fitted to my monster and they work fine.
The feed from the original horn supply does not carry enough current to activate the Denali. You will need a relay.
There is always a work around but the horn was sold as a simple fit and play. Not a fit a relay or Denali adaptor. Spoken to the supplier this a.m he has sent a return postage label and will credit. cost supplier postage, me time but always a bright side. If any one on the forum wants to fit they know the possible fix or leave as is. Off to finish laying the patio while the wife is out, need to hurry. No idea how long the drugs will last.
