Having run a DSB for years whilst commuting, I simply couldn't tolerate the Ducati "peep-peep" noise maker (I can't even bring myself to call it a horn!) any longer. I wanted to retain as close to stock look as I could, and that meant I didnt want to remove the evaporation unit. I ended up ordering the DSB split for the Multi as the mounting options are somewhat limited and space is at a premium behind fairings etc. I also went for the full plug & play wiring (inc. relay) kit at the same time. I've used that before and found it to be both easy to work with and reliable I took my time and tried out a few positions. Ultimately I've removed the stock horn and used the bracket to hold the compressor unit of the DSB. At the moment it's cable tied in place as I wanted to make sure everything lined up / there was enough clearance / the wiring could be run without it being a nightmare. I even tried pulling off the plastic cap to see if that made fitting any easier (it didn't in the end). Next step (tomorrow) is to fabricate a simple bracket to use the stock mount point on the compressor housing. Anyway, it's all wired up and working. The wiring was straight forward and doesn't result in a total rats nest under the seat if you take a bit of time. It's pretty neat and whilst not exactly OEM, it's not offensive to my eye at least It is VERY loud of course which is the whole point. I will update with complete pics once the bracket is done. Oh and I disregarded the Denali advice to mount the compressor vertically or no more than 25 degress off vertical. I've seen loads of DSB split installs where the compressor was not within that range. Just to close this off. Bracket done, painted and fitted up. No clearance issues. It’s behind the rad so should be protected from the worst of the weather too…….not that it’s really an issue as this bike is a weekend toy so won’t be seeing salty roads Pics:
Hi John, Is it noticeably much louder? I know that a subjective question. How about the tone? I'm not asking here but a side by side recording would be useful for horns.
If you mean the Soundbomb Mini in comparison to the stock horn, definately. A lower tone and significantly louder. A worthwhile and easy mod. The full on Soundbomb is louder still but more hassle to fit. Perfectly happy with my Soundbomb Mini.
Mounted mine so rain doesn't get inside it, facing the wrong way still keeps everyone on their toes. When needing too get attention' The foot pegs didn't last long on the bike.
