Hello I got desmo service coming up for my 1098s which I'm going to tackle myself. Feeling pretty comfortable with the workshop manual, forum, youtube and also ordered the Red Baron book. While wating on the book, other than standard tools I already have shim measurement tool, engine turning tool without the degree disc, crank looking tool, straight and angled feeler gauges. Do I need anything else? Is there any reasonably priced shim kit or you just order whichever you need once measured? I've done belts before and had no problem putting the cams back to the position they were in but considering getting the Ducati cam looking tool. To my understanding it puts the cams in correct position and aid in setting belt tension. Or is it just unnecessary? Tool in link below. https://www.stein-dinse.biz/product_info.php?language=sc&products_id=6367

Thanks. After reading the document I need 04111911A as well to fit the valve collets? Is that correct and do I need anything else? Also, while in there I'm planing och replacing all the gaskets and o rings for valve cover. Anything else I should replace? Edit: i don't have to remove the collets, do i? The shims sit on top
The closers are held by the collets on the valve stem, below the openers that sit on top of the valve stem edge. Are you sure you have read enough about this? Here are a couple interesting websites with lots of infos and tools. https://bluming.com/projects/desmo.htm https://desmotimes.com/
I did and was up to date... Last summer I'm in the process of reading again. Just hit me i need to order the tools due to delivery time so I have everything when it's time in a few weeks. But do I need the tool or not? Looking at YouTube they remove the collets with a magnet. I have no access to my workshop manual right now. Thanks for the links
