Been on a fairly long run this morning around 150 miles, my 14 plate 899 with 3000 miles on started to vibrate under hard acceleration about 30 miles from home! Coincidentally or not I had just filled up with fuel at a small Murco garage in Horncastle. After turning onto the top road towards Caistor I short shifted up into top behind traffic. When was clear I rolled on in top and the bike felt to be vibrating a lot more than what is normal. It seemed to do this all the way home when accelerating hard thru the gears. Stationary there are no noises out of the ordinary! When I got home I drained the fuel and went and filled up with Esso Supreme but it still seems to be doing the same. Any ideas anyone. Don't think anybody will be available at Italia till Tuesday.
Hi, I realise this is a very old post but I’m having the exact same problem with my 899. It just started to get really heavy vibration yesterday. Did you ever get to the bottom of what was causing it? Cheers Chris.
hi yes after a few miles with decent super unleaded in it cleared and ran great again. Sold the bike a year ago with 11k on the clocks and it never did it again so put it down to shite fuel
I had this on my 1299 at brands after filling up at the local texico with standard unleaded as it was all they had. The bike almost felt as if it was missing. It only ran right after I ran it through and got shell super in it again.
Thanks for the reply! That’s good to know, mine has a whopping 32000 miles on it but was running great until this . I always use super unleaded in all my bikes but filled up with normal stuff because it’s all the garage had. Thanks again.
I actually commented to my mate earlier that if this was a 4 cylinder It felt like it was running on 3! I’ve topped the tank off with super today so I’ll run it down tomorrow and then refill fully with super. Cheers.
