1200 Diagnostics. Dss & Service

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by P4ULG, Jul 25, 2018.

  1. Hi guys.

Anyone know if there is a Diagnostics tool for the 2013 1200 using the Mitsubishi ECU ?
Searched and a lot of mention of different programs but a lot of noise and not a lot of actual info.

I have DSS errors on the dash. Would rather do some of my own work on the bike now.
Was thinking of just unplugging all the sensors and trying to use multimeter worst case but the diagnostics would be a lot easier and quicker.

Technoresearch was mentioned on a few forums. But can’t find anything on the site and ha Dom response to contact us on their page.

  2. Hi Paul,

Absolutely do not buy the techno research tool !!!
I have one which no longer works as their latest update fecked it. Their response - we no longer sell it (or support it, it seems).

I was advised on the following thread to try the melcodiag software. This worked great to reset my service light, I can't say how good it is for fault codes though.
Have a read, and look at the melcodiag forum too.

    Hope that helps.

  3. As above Melcodiag from the JPDiag site. Buy the cables from LonElec.

  4. Can you help me and confirm ? ...
(for my 2014 1200S, not sure what CPU ? )
    I'll need this LonElec cable,
Then the Melcodiag software from JPDiag
and that's all I'll need to read/reset fault codes and service intervals ?
    Many thanks

  5. Will this allow you to clear faults, identify failure codes, clear Serb ie indicators too? And work on 2105 DVT?

  6. 2015 MTS and up are 2nd generation and use the Bosch ECU. I've been searching for a tool to assist in diagnostics , reset, etc. and it's a crap shoot right now.

My local Ducati Tech told me that MultiToolDecaf will allow you to reset gen 2 reminders but I have not built a cable yet to try it. I don't think Melcodiag will work but it's fairly cheap to try. Just don't fry your ECU ( who knows what Bosch may have done.....).

  7. From my research, the one and ONLY device that supports 2015+ is TEXA Navigator TXBe. But it will cost you close to $2,000.

  8. Well that is what my research indicated as well.

Really bites that Ducati is so "unfriendly" about doing your own maintenance.........................................

  9. Speaking about "unfriendly"... Ducati went as far as refusing to sell workshop manual for 1260! This is the first time happened to me. I owned all Jap's bikes, Aprilia, BMW etc. and I always was able to buy service manuals. I'm extremely disappointed by Ducati...

  10. Tbh it’s one of the reasons I’m considering chopping mine in. It’s out of warranty now, just turn 3 yrs, and I want to be able to look up codes when the light comes on. So I can a) decide if to ignore and carry on and b) if it’s a sensor can I simply replace. Plus out of network servicing not being sure if they can clear the service light.

  11. I took my 2016 1200S into DMC in Stoke as I have an intermittent DSS warning flashing on my dashboard.
Fortunately The bike is still under warranty as I took out an additional 12 months Ever Red warranty.
Plugging the bike in to the PC the fault was diagnosed as a faulty front wheel acceleratometer which has been order.
    Desperado

  13. Well finally got sorted. Thanks to Derek for helping me out.

MelcoDiag connected first time using the Lonelec ELM & Lonelec Ducati adaptor.

Read the faults and now on the hunt to figure out what the codes refer to now.

  14. Paul,
Great to hear the lead and software worked for you.

post the codes up, hopefully someone will know what they are.
You may even find they are generic CAN bus codes, not vendor specific ones.

[Edit: sorry, just seen you have already posted them up ;) ]

    Cheers,
    John.
