Short break with my boys until Weds. Arrived late last night and a short sleep before a 1000h guided museum tour. It was bloody brilliant. It's very quiet here as the locals are away. Food, transport and accommodation all a lot cheaper than I expected and everyone is so friendly.
mate keep me posted. my dates did not line up with the factory tour which was a shame. try and do both if you can
Food, wine, porticos, two towers and proximity to Moderna for Enzo’s red cars and vinegar dressing , Bologna has it all.
ok so they take their tortelloni very seriously indeed and its all so cheap i can imagine if you are into wine then youd love it too and mortadella is something of a speciality here too more photos coming
Very enjoyable post / pics, more welcome, thank you. Bologna is a glorious place. It's known as La Rossa / The Red, principally because of the colour of its bricks, though also in the 20th century for its politics; to which Ducatisti can of course add the bikes.
It's so hot. I've known Italians most my life but being here sheds some new light. Despite my preconceived notions they are all warm and welcoming and not in a superficial way. Yes not everyone speaks English but with my broken Spanish and a few key phrases used with conviction you can make friends easily in even the most benign encounter like getting an orange juice as i am right now!
Indeed so, indeed the Emilia-Romagna region in general. Hence another Bologna nickname being La Grassa - the Fat!
I've holidayed in Italy 5 times now, twice Rome, once naples (with her indoors) and twice tuscany on motorbikes.... Love the place... I'm Envious hahaha. Done the museum and factory tour a few years ago.... It's a great place wherever you go
I have been to the factory 3 times now, the first back in 2000, Things have changed a bit over the years. The last time was special as I went behind the blue doors into the race department. It was awesome. I need to go to Italy at least once a year to get my fix. Milan show booked for November!
About 1:30 pm, you'll catch the end of their dinnertime, the whole workforce from the ceo to the labourer are outside in the car park, in the sunshine. Dinner ends at 2pm
Bologna is a lot of fun. Here are three suggestions for next time/others: 1. Rino's garage Bar and memorabilia https://rinosgarage.it/ 2. Trattoria Pizzeria Belle Arti https://www.trattoriapizzeriabellearti.it/ Quality, typical regional food 3. Trattoria da me nella Torre https://www.trattoriadame.it/ Great location, worth a splurge
I went last week before the museum closed for holidays. These two were down a corridor opposite the museum reception
