Diavel Engine Cut Out

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Shewey, Jul 13, 2016.

  1. Morning All, looking for bit of advice ? On ride out last night, engine cut out on a roundabout and coasted to a stop ! Engine wouldn't turn on ignition button, but after several minutes of shutting everything off and on again, it did fire up, and had no more problem with it ! Any thoughts on problem appreciated, got feeling it's something simple ! Cheers !

  2. How old is it? How many miles has it done? Was it very hot when it cut out?

  3. No idea but welcome Dave

  4. It's only a few months old, and we'd done about 100 miles but it wasn't showing unusually hot !

  5. I was asking because new engines can be tight and prone to stalling, especially when hot. As the engine loosens up as it runs in the problems often go away.
My last two new Ducatis (1098 & 1299) stalled quite a lot during the first 1000 miles but were fine after that. The 1098 was especially difficult to restart after a stall when hot during the running in period.
I would see how it goes. If it doesn't do it again then fine. If it starts doing it more often then it will probably need hooking up to the diagnostics system to see if anything is showing there.

  6. Thanks mate, I've been messing about with it today and no sign of any problem, will just have to wait and see if happens again !

  7. Welcome :)
