Hi everyone. I've removed my front forks to service them and I've noticed the model number is different on each leg. Is this normal or something I should worry about? Just a little more details. I bought the bike second hand so not really sure if something strange happened before. The right one if you're sitting on the bike marked fg8650 has been the one that has given me problems. Even if it seems to be the newer one dated 2013. Leaking twice in the span of one year. I had a Ducati mechanic in East London servicing them twice (to the tune of 400 quid a pop) but he did a butchered job, and one of the times he sent me out knowing the fork was not even attached to the cap. How do I know? Firstly he told me the fork was loose but he said it's something I should look into it further down the road. Then when I removed the front wheel the fork came down loose spilling oil all over the place. So I've decided this time to do the job myself. As usual thanks for your inputs

So it looks like they may have changed the old right fg860 with the newer fg8650. And ironically enough( not for my wallet or state of mind) that's the one causing trouble.

I did for a while cause I didn't think it was that bad. then one day I decide to remove the front wheel cause the fork was leaking again... and the whole thing came down! I went back to him to have it fixed properly, which he said he did... until I went out for a couple of rides and it's leaking again.
Their different product numbers to indicate the difference between left and right fork bottoms. Unless decent quality seals such as Ohlins, SKF or NOK (who I’m sure make Ohlins seals) or Athena are used Ohlins forks are very prone to leaking. If the mechanic used a cheap AllBalls kit they’re bound to leak.
