Having fitted my eternal 900ss project with a 999 front end and spoked Sport Classic wheels, there's no room to fit a mechanical speedo drive. I would like to make use of the standard instrument cluster and replace the speedo with an electronic version. I know there are one or two 90mm offerings from aftermarket suppliers, but was wondering whether anyone here knows of an electronic 'stand alone' speedo about 90mm as a standard fitment on any bike. The Sport Classic speedo is part of the instrument cluster, can't be carved off and needs the paired ignition key to operate. For the time being, it will be put together using a bicycle speedo. Any help welcome Thanks
Have a look at the offerings from Acewell, I believe they do a small pod mounted speedo/ tacho. The speedo operates off a hall sensor which they supply as part of the kit.
This is the one is was thinking of http://www.acewell.co.uk/Acewell Speedometers/ACE-2xxx/ACE-2856.htm?action=full&id=18
Thanks for fast replies - I'd already checked http://www.digital-speedos.co.uk/ but having just bought 'That Swingarm', thought that before making a further significant entry onto the project spreadsheet, I'd see whether there was any chance of scavenging something that would drop into place and look right from a breaker Appreciate the thoughts
hi borgo , i put this electronic speedo into 748 clocks ,just opened up the original and replaced the innards, a bit fiddly but fairly straight foward . cut out from sheet of carbon fibre . hope this helps
