Disc Lock Monster 821

  1. Ordered a Monster 821 today
Now I am looking into locks.

Was thinking about getting two Abus locks with chains, one for work (and leave it there) and one at home.

Unfortunately my insurance does not accept Road Lok and I will have to take the disc lock with me sometimes.
Can anyone tell me what disc lock will fit under the seat of a Monster 821?
Should I have to take it with me in my jacket pocket, the 67 will probably be better than the 68?

  2. I used to use one of these, quite small and fitted under the tail piece of the Panni, you'd have to check the monster though, good lock very sturdy oxford.jpg

  3. Thanks,
the Nemesis is similar to the Abus 67 I guess.
I read on the Abus website you can order multiple Abus locks with identical keys. That’s why I’m going for Abus.
Leave one lock with chain at work and one at home with the same key.

But no Monster owner can tell me anything about under seat space?

  4. I have a 1200s and there is no space under the seat for a decent lock, even with the "tool kit" (why bother) there isn't any room. I am going to make a bracket to carry a disk lock with me at all times and fit it to the bike. I believe the 821 has the same arrangement as it has the same seat.

  5. I carry my disc lock attached to the crash bobbins on my s4r 20160809_194416.jpg

  6. Thanks, makes me wonder if the designers of these bikes even ride themselves.

  7. This is what I ended up with.
I was on a bike show today and was talking to the guys from Abus.
There is a bracket for attaching the Victory 68 lock to the bike.
    (It’s in the box SH68/SH69)

However, as I want to use a chain I need a Victory 68 with long pin.
The bracket is for a Victory 68 with short pin.
They made me a deal, I bought the bracket, lock plus chain and they would give me an extra short pin for free.
But ended up paying 5 euros extra for a short pin with memory wire.
I guess it's also possible to use a piece of tube over the long pin to prevent it from rattling in the bracket
