1200 Do I Need Fatducs On My 2014 Decat

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by wheeledwidewebb, Dec 6, 2014.

  1. the fuelling on my 2014 MTS is nothing like as good as my old 2011 and since I have installed the Mivv Suono & de-cat it I am finding a bit of hesitation, especially in urban mode. Starting when hot is also a bit manly, often almost fires up but gives a pop and stops, I bit of throttle does the trick.

So my guess is that it is way lean but before I post a wanted ad, can you learned peeps confirm that some fatducs will improve thing for me.

I am miles away from CJS so a remap is not on the cards.

    Fankoo.

  2. 1. You do not need FatDUCs ...they will not doing anything good to your machine.
    2. Ramsgate to where CJS is located is a short ride for a Multistrada owner!!!
Most weekends I do 450 miles and It's not unusual to do that in a day.

  3. ???? Mine was still smooth with a decat and standard can, just too loud.

  4. A full day on the Dyno resulting in 24 custom spark and fuel maps would cost well under £500 and the result will be awesome.....
Anything else is a waste of time....
    In my humble opionion.....
I'm waiting to have my second bike done (2013 PP).
My previous 2010 Mutley got 151 BHP at the rear wheel and remains a beautiful machine to ride, some 15K miles later.
    Also available for sale

  5. I'm not your average Multistrada rider ;)

Ramsgate to Bristol is out of the question for me.

You've shocked me regarding the fatducs, I was hoping they would do good things, what is the problem then?

  6. Bsd peterborough? Think they may do custom mappimmg, now there are a few places with the kit these days

  7. They were designed to work with the single spark engine and fool the ECU into thinking the engine is still cold (by changing the readings given by the 02 sensors), causing it to richen the mixture.
I had them on my 2010 bike after a decat and LeoVince end can. They did the job 90%...but I really wanted it 100% right...which the remap did. I sold them on here back in the beginning of 2013 to someone on here, who unbeknown to me had the very latest twin spark engine.
He reported that it ran worse.

I assume the twin spark engine isn't fooled as easily. Chris of CJS would be able to shed more light on a more in depth answer.

  8. Chris is working with someone up North on your side of the country....but probably still the same travel time.

  9. Right, understood, fatducs are wasted on the twin spark then. Thanks for that everyone.

Is the 'only answer' a re-map then?

The low down fuelling is horrible, pulling away is hesitant, making slow speed work and filtering really annoying.

  10. There is a remap "up flash" USB drive with the Termis....I'm not sure how it works, but I think it is connected to the port under the seat and sort of does it a re-map...albeit is fixed. Meaning that each multistrada engine is quite different and benefits greatly from a custom map. This USB thing, must just be a set map (albeit richer) for the larger/less restrictive exhaust and air filter set up with the Termis.

  11. Maybe I'll investigate the possibility of a local engine tune then. I can't live with how it is at the moment.

  12. Shame you're so far from CJS, if you need convincing maybe there's someone near you that's had a tune done and would let you try, had mine done at CJS and concur with ACT, it's sublime now

  13. What about something like a tuneboy or rexxer, anyone actually got one of these, actually, I will start a new thread on the subject.

  14. :( Oh what a shame that looks like fun

  15. Woah there big fella.

You've bought a new bike and you're assuming that it needs improvements from the off.

Has it only been running poorly since you swapped the exhaust?

If it's as bad as you say - I would be tempted to return it under warranty to the dealer first - just to make sure everthing is tickety boo and as Ducati intended.

I would also investigate alternative exhaust solutions.

Standard the bike should run much better than your old 1-spark low down - that's what all the head work was designed to do after all.

I haven't tried other solutions - so can only speak for the factory Termi - but with that exhaust and standard remap you will find the bike transformed. If you weigh up the cost of remaps, travel, new exhausts and general piddling about - you might just find a Termi a cheaper (still warrantied) alternative?

  16. AGREE.

ONLY if fitted by an approved dealer, DIY installation would invalidate the warranty, unless they checked it and applied the UPMAP.

  17. The weather is a bit manky so as and when I can get out on it again I will make some more logical and structured observations.

    I will report back...

  18. Your choices are these.

Listen to internet experts...or go get some advice from real experts....plenty of Ducati specialist both main dealer and independent, one must be close to you
