Bought myself a Mk1 Honda Fireblade earlier this month. I love it for its '90s shell suit paint scheme and it's so nice to ride, plenty of room for 6ft me and compared to what I'm used to comfy! Still been riding my Mutley regularly but the poor old 848, well it's just been shoved to the back of the garage. Anyway finally took the 848 out for thrash this week. At first I appreciated the completely different riding experience to the Blade, but to be honest when I got back home I'd kind of fallen out of love with it. It's brought me a lot of happiness of the last 3 years but I'm thinking maybe it's time to part company. Should I or do I need my head testing?
I would keep a bike that I found myself preferring to ride. I would also think on it,as it would be sad to "give her up to someone else and realise you loved her after all!" ;-)
Hey, the commitment required by Ducati just isn't for everyone. They aren't that easy to live with. A Blade is efficient and a lot less demanding. If you're not prepared to be really on it and want a more relaxed sportsbike ride, then the Blade is probably what you need. Don't worry about the ethos and the hype. Ride what brings you most pleasure per mile. If it's a Honda, so be it. Nothing to feel ashamed of. The heart does not lie.
Hope it's the zzzz for her sake, that's where I'd be if my bloody guts hadn't started aching at 5.30!
