Do you 'like' Harley Davidsons?

  1. This made me chuckle ...

According to newspapers today a team of Cambridge psychologists have analysed peoples 'Likes' on Facebook and found they can be used to predict what you are actually like in real life.

Apparently if you 'like' Curly Fries you are probably quite intelligent, but the same can't be said if you 'like' Harley Davidson!

    Like curly fries?

  2. I don't like HD but that is probably because of my European upbringing. I would not be sure what my thoughts would be if I grew up in the land of armed security guards at school and ounzes of slurpy drinks topped with waffle burgers.

I would probably own at least 3 guns. Including a semi auto and at one point in my life wear my cap backwards.

  3. When I came back to riding on two wheels after a 40 year break my first bike was a Harley 1200 cc Sportster.I quite enjoyed the bike but realised I didn't want to go down the chaps and tassles route so I replaced it with something else.
Don't think I will go down the Harley route again.

  4. What are 'Curly Fries' ?

  5. Pig Iron!

  6. I can enjoy riding them, but I certainly wouldn't pay my own money for one. For the amount of money you pay, the product you receive is a over-priced poorly finished pile of sh*t.

  7. If someone gave me a Harley, I'd probably cheerfully ride it about. I can see the attraction. But I think it's very unlikely I will ever own one. Far too many bikes I'd sooner have.

It's hard to see the point in a very heavy bike that makes little power, doesn't stop very well, and threatens to run into a ditch if you corner with any enthusiasm. I've always preferred bikes that were better than I am - makes me feel a lot safer. I don't like grounding anything more than my knee.

  8. I wonder what the analysis is if you're not on Facebook or prefer crinkle cut chips

  9. If it gets someone on a bike I can tolerate them but they're not for me.

Absolutley the only Harley I'd want an XR 750 and I,d rather that than any other bike except for
    1 a WSB 999
    2 a Honda RC211V

  11. "Like" Harleys ? Errr... No ! Overpriced, under-engineered bits of American Agricultural equipment ( IMHO ). Other people disagree - obviously, as they seem to sell loads of them - and that's their right to choose. Hey, it's a bike - so better than a car - but just not for me, thanks very much...

  12. I have had great fun hiring Harleys for motorbike holidays in the US, mostly west coast and places like Death Valley, Mojave etc. It's whatever works for the time and place, in the US the scene is dominated by guys riding Harleys. Riding (including twisty stuff) with some mates and watching the world go by from a Harley have been my best ever holidays.

The UK is a different biking scene but I've thought quite differently about Harleys since doing quite a few thousand miles on them. I'd say don't knock it until you've tried it. I'd also say, don't bother in the UK, but riding across US big country with your panniers loaded and the sun shining is pretty awesome and Harleys tap into this really well. I've done long days back to back and couldn't do that on a Streetfighter.

  14. I would also add the Harley Davidson advert that had a strap line "you always remember your first sexual experience" had scratched underneath "mine was a wank - pretty much sums up HD"

    Harsh but clever...

  15. I like Harleys, in fact in the early 90's I raced a Sportster in the 883 series! I've ridden them on the road as well, if you're not in a rush and want to watch the world they're ok! I'd have one, maybe a Fatboy for cruising around on :)

  16. I have a 3 mates into Harley's big time, a couple of them moved from sportsbikes into the lifestyle. The Harley scene, dedication and passion is similar to Ducatista, and there's only a couple of other brands that have this. I can respect that. I had a go on a Buell about 12 years ago, the vibration through the bars footrests and seat was horrendous at low revs and I learnt to ride on Brit twins and Jap singles. I look at them parked up and 1 in 1000 appeals to me a bit but I'll never own one.

  17. The above quote is sometimes what my mates say about Ducatis.
I love my Ducatis most of the time and would have to disagree with them.

Only ridden a Hardlyworthitson once - a mate's 1200 Sportster - well if thats a sporty I don't want to ride a slow one. Brakes were adequate for the performance but the suspension was overworked with my 11 stone on it!
I guess all those Harley riders who are vertically challenged and relatively rotund must have started out tall and skinny like me and have gradually had all their verterbrae compressed.

For me Harleys are like horses, I just wouldn't bother unless there is no other option.

  18. so youre saying you'd like to go cruising around with a fat boy?? ohh betty x mwah.
