I'm not only shite at design, but I don't have anything other than 'Paint' on my notepad. Can anyone help with a design I'm playing with? Here's the basic idea, but I'd ideally want the colour to fill the areas. It's an outline of the county of Kent for the Ducati Owners Club Kent branch. We're nicknamed 'The Spitfires' but I can't work out a way of incorporating this. One idea is an outline in the background, but that's beyond me. If this idea is shit feel free to tell me and suggest other designs! Matt, sorry if this would be better in lounge
Just had a quick search and found this: Could you reduce the size of the valve gear image and incorporate this logo? Paint out the 'windsor' type and add kent??? I know nothing about copyright! Best I can come up with off the top of my head ...
Looks good as it is, as rough as it is - a bit retro and raggy is good! Don't do the Spitfires bit, far too corny and somewhat off topic
Thanks for the links and ideas I might have to ditch the Kent outline idea, I've already heard a few comments, including 'America with Florida flooded'..... More ideas would be great, there's some real talent on this forum, and I don't mean El Tel in a bikini
The thing with Rolls-Royce Merlin engines is they use bevel driven valve-gear, so the kent-ducati-spitfire thing works quite well, imo.
But they are not Bevel Gears on the logo are they? Anyhow, a 1918 Napier Lion Aero Motor also uses bevel gears - come to think of it so does D Ashworths Valve Gear for Steam Engines patented in 1896. How about: D Ashworth of Wappinggers Falls Bevel Valve Gear for Steam Engines US Patent 1918 Napier Lion Aero Motor 1918 Spitfire Merlin Bevellers Association Society - far more relevant  and rolls off the tongue nicely...
Call me pedantic Nick, but I think if you put the owner's club logo at the top and kent branch at the bottom it'll have a better sense of symmetry .... ?
Have a chat with this bloke [email protected] - He's in the midlands but can use a Post Office with the best of them. he can take basic ideas and make them work as well.
