  1. I have a cheeky question!
    ta in advance :)

  2. i cycle past one on my way to work...they always seem to be sat about chatting. The only guy i ever see doing any work is the bloke who washes the cars on the forecourt.

  3. Cheeky or not, still cost you £116 + VAT for an answer . Andy

  4. i remember listening to Nick Ferrari on LBC radio one afternoon and a woman rang in about the local Merc stealers..they wanted £1500 to repair the electronic motor for the drivers seat....a caller rang in and said that he could replace the motor for £50, or swap the seat for another for £500....robbin' gits.

  5. whats the problem? vehicle or customer care?

  6. my suspension feels a bit saggy....

  8. Is the question "Does your missus take it up the wrong 'un"?

    What do I win?

  9. are they an over rated peice of cack? oh yes.

  10. That's rather uncalled for El T

  11. the chance to do your missus up the shitter again. Congrats.

    Goodnight much luv.

  12. Vehicle Finm. The car, a CLK cabriolet has 29000 miles on the clock and has a FMDSH, however it has the shitty 7 speed box.

The gearbox speedo sensor has decided to die, and unlike the 5 speed box it is integrated into the gearbox ECU package.

Which means what was a £80 sensor on the 5 speed has now turned into a £1276 ex vat replacement part. (for no other reason than it was one less part number to worry about and the sensor cost merc 2 euro a piece from bosch), and that's before I add labour and STAR diagnostic coding.

I'm trying to find avenues to buy this at as close to trade as possible.

I'm utterly pissed off that the car although an 07 car should have a failure on a major component part so early on in the mileage of the car. I could understand it if it was a 190K autotrader pig that's never been serviced.

the main stealer has given a 30% goodwill gesture discount off the part cost, but It's still not good enough.

We used to be able to get these parts through work, and I was more than happy for work to service and do the work on it, but as it stands MB will only supply us parts for the W199 platform.

  13. I know my local friendly Ducati parts guy has a 30% margin on parts. If he's giving you 30% off, then if he has the same margin, he's more than likely doing it for cost.

  14. unfortunately Rob, I know how much that ECU costs at trade, but I no longer have access to it ... which is probably why I'm peeved about it. Never matter, just break the bike and pay for the heap of junk that way.

  15. no luck mate. try BBA reman use them lots very very good. suspect they could repair unit and offer you a life time guarantee,

  16. I can see why you are annoyed then. The car isn't that old that you should be experiencing this kind of cost. However, there must be a breaker that has one for a 6 year old car.

  17. Try these people www.ecutesting.com they sorted my bmw injector pump control unit and repair many modern electronic items.

  18. Just reading this thread & I thought 30% was good going. I use to work at privately owned Vauxhall dealership & once you'd worked there for a certain period of time, you were allowed parts at cost as long as they were for your own car. Most of these items were about a third off the retail price.

  19. when i worked at a fiat dealer ship there was a massive mark up on some parts anything up to 60%

  20. Years ago when i was in the trade, we got up to 80% off consumables, at least 50% off everything else.
