I had a Diavel Carbon that was loaned to me stolen recently from a spot where I'd parked my standard Multi without incident many times. The dealer that loaned me the bike subsequently told me that this was probably because the thieves could get their hands on the expensive carbon easily. A cautionary tale?
The thieves were probably already scouting the area and had seen your bike before. They probably nicked the Diavel as they thought it was brand new. But to answer your question, I dont really think so
They nicked it because it was there . Thieving scum will nick anything that is available doesn't matter if its shiny or not when its on bay and earning them a fix.
Can't understand why you would bother adding loads of expensive carbon just to shed a few pounds, surely cheaper to eat a few less pies.
my bike is draped in carbon and I actually think it makes it invisible to the naked eye like a cloaking device but women seem to slip on a slippy slug like secretion dribbling down there inner legs when im sat on it with my lid off
Bikes I have had that have been stolen... Suzuki X1 ( ZR50K ) - no carbon. Honda CB100N - no carbon. Although, thinking about it, both of those were probably before carbon fibre was actually invented ! So that probably doesn't help the argument very much...
I had a CB100N nicked as well, horrible bike certainly didn't have any carbon on it!,I was glad to see the back of it, replaced it with a DT 125.
Weirdest thing I have ever had happen on a bike was with my CB100N - Pulled the clutch in to change gear, and the cable froze solid, with the clutch disengaged ! Had to wait for it to thaw out before it would go any further...
I had a GS750DB (my 1st real bike) stolen right from under my nose at Liverpool St, London. It was later found some weeks later at Tobacco Dock but it was thrashed and a right mess. No carbon. Since then Ive never left any of my bikes exposed. Especially a Ducati. If its not in my garage, I am riding it. If I go somewhere i make sure its secure. I dont leave them in carparks or out of my sight. I dont use london bike parks and tbh if i can get somewhere in London by tube, i'll use the train. They're pigs in London traffic anyway and a scooter would be quicker. Ducati should do a Scooter like one of those Italjet's.
I actually find my 2013 MTS very well behaved in London traffic - unlike me when I stick in sport and ride round Parliament Sq and along the embankment scaring tourists! These bikes are meant to be ridden, not left in the garage!
