Does This Void The Warranty?

  1. Does having the 15000 mile service not done at the dealer void the warranty?

Do some of you guys go more than 15000 for this service?

Some are saying that 15000 mile service is mostly to check the valves, if ok thats it, if not more cost to replace. Some are saying that when they had the valves checked they were good. So the question is, is it possible to go more than the 15000 miles recommended by Ducati on the Hyper 939 ?

  2. How old is the bike? Can you use an approved Ducati workshop rather than the dealer?

  3. European consumer protection legislation states a manufacturer has to honour a vehicle’s warranty if servicing carried out by a non franchised workshop can be shown to follow the manufacturer’s servicing schedule and original parts have been used. IIRC, California has some of the strictest consumer protection legislation in the world and I know Ducati NA hold dealerships responsible for warranty work. Your independant might do a very good job and your Hyper will see the warranty period out without any problems. For us in the UK, the moment you use a non authorised workshop, with the exception of 1 or 2 examples, outside warranty goodwill from Ducati tends to go out of the window. For me, any independent workshop would have to have demonstrable experience of the model being serviced. Andy

  4. I haven't bought the bike yet, but I am looking into this because it is going be a commuter and play bike. I will be racking up the miles rather quick, from 60 to 120 miles round trip on heavy days.
    The reason for the questions.
1- I have a guy who has a shop where he works on all types of bikes. Both his sons race motocross . This guy has been a bike mechanic since he was a kid. lets just say , he know a sh.. load about all different types of bikes. I actually called him to asked about the Hyper 939. He said that an oil change would be 50, even though I will just do it myself. The 15000 mile service would be $800
He said that he has several owners who have these bikes and take it to him for all kinds of services.

2- I will probably do my best to negotiate the first 600 mile oil change to be thrown into the deal. From what one dealer told me, that it wouldn't be a problem. I don't want to have future warrant issues because i didn't have it serviced with the dealer the first time. After this, I plan to just change it myself.
As for the 15000 mile service, I will probably take it the first time to the dealer then to my mechanic on the 30000 mile.

    Question.
On the oil change the oil and filter are replaced. What about the little filter inside? Does this have to be cleaned every oil change? And is it difficult to do?

  5. the 15000mile service is carried out at 18000miles in the uk and Europe .This is because Europe uses km instead of miles ,which works out at 30,000km or 5 years for belts.
