Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by the_duc, Dec 26, 2012.

  1. what are the opinions on dovi on the ducati??

i think hes got talent. but anyone know of any lap times??

  2. Will it work?

Only if they build a better bike for him.

  3. i see there is alot of talk of testing over winter, but will they be stubborn for yet another year and not skip that idea with the engine being the frame,

i still think its to do with the engine being long so they cant move it around the bike enough to get the "feel" on the front end

  4. Who knows. We can just wait and see.

  5. I predict no. Dovi's a smooth, late braker (like Rossi but not as good) .. Probably the worst style to have on the Ducati, which won't turn properly and understeers. I can't see Dovi rear wheel steering it like Casey, he'll be dependant on Ducati turning the bike around.

  6. Doubt it, he had 3 yrs on the repsol bike and did nothing and the bike's still a pig, nicky's been on full factory bikes for 8-9 yrs and only won 3(i think) races and that was on the v5 honda. Gonna be a very long year am afraid

  7. He's a great and a very solid rider, but the bike isn't good enough. I fear his results will be very similar to macro melendri's tenure.

  8. If the engine will not fit the frame, then they will have to back even further then anticipated...

i just read an articcle in MC racer talking to the 3 TECH3 hotshots who make their own frames in moto2..
The policy is to avoid having to make their own frame in MotoGP and sticking with the M1 frame as supplied by yamaha for as long as possible..

Now if top notch frame makers try to avoid making MGP frames it must be that it is alchemy...

Having to make a MotoGP frame around an engine that was not supposed to have one must be bordering on the miraculous...

Especially if the few shops that might know how to do it are your comepetitors....

I like dovi for his clockwork efficienciy ( don't forget he beat of Cal on many occasions) but this will not alter the task on the bike..
i think they should go back to the nonframe and coninue it's development..

Apparantly it s all about flexing when leaned over as the suspension is not fully useable under lean...
they must be able to come with one way or another to make it flex... adding or designing various rubber or other mounts between engine and 'frame' pe...

in any case : may they find some devine inspiration! they sure could use some! :)

  9. It's the bike that's the problem, not the rider. So if Rossi and Nicky can't get it to work, I can't see why Dovi would.

If they come out with at better bike (and a bike that is better than the Honda or Yam - not very likely) then I imagine that Dovi would be in with a shout.

Personally, I am expecting no change next season. The chief interest will be seeing if Vale really is still up to scratch, or whether he's done a Michael Schumacher.

  10. I agree. I personally think the Valentino Rossi circus may overshadow the real racing.

  11. The bike was fine before that winging wanker tossi got his hands on it !

Dovi can't be any worse, as for Hayden don't really understand why he is still on the team other than to generate US sales

Ducati should put Andrea Iannone on the factory bike and ditch the mobile chicane that is Hayden

tossi will spend the whole season moaning that his bike is not as fast as Jorge's

  12. Kato, the bike has never been fine, Stoner won on it when it was the fastest bike in the series, using his skill to get it reluctantly round corners, a skill which others hav'nt been able to match. once the other manufacturers cought up on the straight line speed, The Desmo went backwards. As others have said, the problem is likely to be the size shape of the engine, personally i can't see that changing.

  13. >yawn!< so let's get this straight -add up all the world titles for the guys who couldn't make the bike work, Melandri, Capirossi, Rossi, Bayliss, Hayden, add in the horsepower advantage that Stoner had in Y1, his undoubted talent, and the conclusion is that the bike is fine? I dunno what you're smoking Kato, but it's clearly mind altering potent stuff. The bike is a pig....end of! Dovi is a different rider definitely NOT a better rider. Unless they change the bike radically, he'll do nowt....

  14. And Rossi will shine.

  15. Anyone on the Ducati since '07 has had a straight line speed advantage - the Ducati is still always the quickest through the traps.

  16. And that means?

  17. If people cant see that in yr one of the 800s the duke had a huge advantage in a straight line that outweighed its shite ability going round corners they are deluding themself. As soon as the yam got a slight bit closer on top speed stoner had no chance. He had to start pushing harder in the corners and thats when the crashes started. Ducati came up with a brilliant electronic package thet first yr, when the japs cought on ,they were to slow at keeping the advantage/ didnt have the cash.
No doubt stoners skill but when he aint had a big advantage in speed terms he didnt win the championchip, simple terms if you dont like it, tough

  18. I fear this may be career suicide for Dovi, which is a shame as I like him both as a rider and as a personality. Having said that, it looks like Ducati will be able to throw money and resources at the problem now, so you never know, they may come good. I'd be more concerned about Honda next season, cos I can see Pedrosa and his young charge pitching each other off on a regular basis.

  19. Add up all the time Tossi refused to ride without have the best bike, add up all the time Tossi got the hump when his team mates got close to him, sure to be able to ride those bikes takes some talent but most of Rossi's talent is his ability to make sure he has the best package surrounding him, not a chance he would have won all those times had others had the same kit, he went to Ducati and got onto a bike still capable of winning races and promptly fucked it up and still the sheep follow adoringly, he will spend all of this coming season moaning that his bike is not as good as Jorge's and will get his 46 rammed very hard up his arse............goat ....my arse more like first class twat

  20. Step away from the Stella kato, it's far to early for drinkies.
