899 Downshift Clutch Issue

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Steve Wright, Sep 24, 2024.

  1. Hi

Has anyone encountered a problem when pulling the clutch for a downshift you get a judder in the lever?.

Could this be the slave playing up, upshift is fine only on downshift.

    Cheers

  2. Feedback from the slipper clutch?

  3. So is it when you first pull on the lever but before you have done the downshift?

  4. Yes it is, only on the downshift.

  5. Mine has never done that but I have a Oberon clutch slave fitted. An easy thing to do would be check for fluid leaks around the slave and then if all ok flush the system with fresh fluid and see if it’s still doing it, if it is then you will need to dig a bit deeper.

  6. yeah will try that and may even fit a new Oberon.

  7. is it judder as the lever moves or in a holding position on the clutch. Could be wear on the out basket, possibly worth reviewing on the next service/oil change..
just remembered that the 899 doesn't have the same access to the clutch as the 199 etc, so takes a little longer.

  8. mine did this, was like a notchy click on all downshifts, turns out it was an aftermarket slipper which i changed out (£1200)

is it a new bike or just started happening

also check the thingy that slide on the spline is tight

also check the quick sifter mechanism isn't catching on anything

i put an oberon on, the standard ones are sub par, you can take it off check for oil

also took me three or for attempts to get 100%bubbles out, leavng the lever taped to the bar overnight helps
