Anyone got one? Our village has fibre but we’re 400 mtrs outside and have copper and super slow. Two teenage girls and a wife working from home we were running the BT and three 4g routers on Gif Gaf sims. Bit the bullet and got a Starlink set up, arrived in just over a week, plugged the router in, put the dish on the roof and plugged it in, within 15 minutes we’re pushing between 165-200 mbps, which compared to 12-13 mbps on copper really is impressive. Elon Musk is certainly an odd bloke if not a little creepy but he has his shit together with this thing.
Initial outlay was £460 (month return policy if your not satisfied) then its £70 per month, sounds expensive but compared to the three sim cards and the BT wifi cost its cheaper per month. Noticing a wide range of speeds at various times but literally the who family/house is online and the lowest we’re getting is 35-40 mbps.
Depends how you use the internet, if you like gaming/streaming/watching livefeeds you have 65ms latency. If however you just download y/t shite & catch news feeds once things are published. It'll be okay for you.
Presume it’s affected by extreme weather much like SKY satellite is in heavy rain etc? Still a lot better than what you had previously, where we are is far from rural and yet the Openreach offering is shocking, all of their infrastructure is underground so their interest in upgrading it is lacklustre in the least. 5G was to earmarked to be installed close by but the locals blocked it. Do have Virgin cable fortunately but it’s expensive
