Yes i hate that phrase too but anyone got one and can recommend one...or make me decide against. It would have been useful in the low sun yesterday when a peak would have kept the sun completely out of my eyes when even a dark visor wasn't enough. I like the look of the AGV AX8 Dual Evo but it seems that some reviews say the peak catches in the wind. Is this a common problem with all makes?
What sort of riding position are you in mostly? Sit up or sports bike crouch? I have an Arai Quantum that whistles and hisses with wind noise when I'm sat up riding my Speed Triple - so I bought a Schuberth C3 Pro flip up with an internal pull-down dark visor, at the bike show in November. I can ride straight into the sun with the dark visor down, it's rather splendid! It's a much quieter lid than my Arai as well. I would imagine a peak on any lid at speed is just asking for trouble in the way of vibration and turbulence?! But I've got an Arai shaped head and my Arai is slightly more comfortable for me internally (except the bloody wind noise) so I'll keep it for riding my sports bike.
I've the arai that matches my PP (x4 chaser?)...Anything above 130mph and it can pull my head. Probably have a bigger build than most (lifetime of riding and a manual job). And a lot of pies.
I have same helmet when I had my PP. it was a great helmet especially riding into sun, I now have 848 so doesn't go, it's for Sale too
I took the plunge and bought the AGV AX8 Dual Evo in the end as sportsbikeshop have 25% off them at the moment. The fit is nigh on perfect. Just need to try it out on the bike this afternoon.
Well it works much better than i could have hoped. I was concerned that the peak may prove to be a pain....but at most speeds it works perfectly well in blocking the sun and very stable and no buffeting ( maybe a little vibration above sensible speeds ;-)). However not a good idea to lift my head above the screen at speed. Its super comfortable and quiet too. Considering sportsbikeshop.co.uk are doing these at 25% off at the moment, its a relative bargain.
