1200 Enduro Duc-ee And Servo Removal

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by MotoNik, Mar 18, 2019.

  1. Has anyone fitted a DUC-EE to their Enduro? Just wondering how fiddly it is to remove the servo? Took me about two hours on my 2013 Multi and 1200 Monster! I know I could just unplug it and leave it on the bike, but I don't like the idea of doing half a job.

  2. I've got one on the DVT.
If you fit the DUC-EE you don't need to remove the servo, it just keeps the valve open all the time. Once you remove the DUC-EE it goes back to normal (unless it's rusted open)

  3. I know that strictly speaking I don't need to remove it, but if it's not doing anything I'd feel happier knowing it's not there. So really I'd just like to know how tricky it is to remove.

  4. IF Enduro is the same as DVT, you feel happier leaving the servo alone (just disconnected). To remove it, you need to completely disassemble the whole rear subframe - that means lots of tools and few days of work. Does it worth it to you?

  5. I take your point!!

Does anyone have access to exploded diagrams, so I can see where it's located, and how to get at it?

  6. I removed mine on my DVT. It's best to do it when you're installing your decat, otherwise it creates repeated steps.

Basically you need to remove the entire exhaust. Then you'll find that the servo is in an awkward position, which must be installed before the engine.
So you need to remove seat and frame covers and everything in the electronics tray (battery, ecu, all of the things...)
Then you can get at the top bolts on the rear exhaust pipe connected to the cylinder head. You can remove the lower two bolts with a socket and extensions, but the upper ones are impossible otherwise. With the rear exhaust primary out of the way you can then, finally, remove the servo. Then throw it across the yard, or smash it with hammers.
Then put it all back together.

The service manual was only so much help, it says to remove the swing arm, which you definitely don't need to do. So there was a fair bit of time figuring out what needs to come off and in what order. I'd budget 3-4 hours since it's your first time.

  7. Just my 2c. I removed my cat box, fitted a Delkvic system and fitted a Ducee about 5000km ago. Recently my bike began to die at idle and miss incredibly badly under load and also under 4000rpm. After 6 weeks in the shop, being plugged into diagnostics etc, the concensus is to put the catbox back on and remove the ducee. If you fit a full termi, you can upmap the ecu to compensate, but the upmap is totally unavailable without the full termi.
You can get Rexxer to flash you ecu but if you research that, you will find more than a couple of instances of it causing more trouble than it is worth.
Now, I have not got my bike back yet to refit the original exhaust to confirm if that solves the problem, and I am also not sure why it took so long to cause problems. My Ducati guy can't help either and the DVT's are so overly complicated electronically that no-one seems able to successfully tune the ecu's. Although I am still asking around...

  8. I tried the duc EE with good luck until I went out west to higher elevation. Over 5k feet my bike had a variable idle like 1-2k rpm. It was so bad in town people would look at me at stoplights due to engine racing back and forth. Went home the idle was still variable but not as bad. Dealer cleared any faults codes and re-mapped with stock map. My bike is stock exhaust. They unhooked Duc EE too and the problem went away.

  9. In your opinion, how can the Duc EE negatively affect fueling mixture?

  10. e
I didn't say anything about fuel mixture. Just relaying my experience with a fast idle at high elevation and Duc ee. That might have been a one off and had nothing to do with Duc ee. Or a faulty Duc ee. But have been at high elevation since then and no problem.

  11. Ah! OK. I was trying to figure out the connection between high altitude, map (which is fuel mixture) and the DUC-EE? This latter being an outlier.
