Hi there, I’ve got a 2007 1098S in immaculate condition with 46000kms on the clock. It’s got Termis on and a Boosterplug from Europe, runs like an absolute dream, no stalling, better idle, stronger accel. But, I’ve got the strangest problem. I stopped for fuel and it wouldn’t start. Click click click. So, got towed home, got a new battery, hey presto, like new again. Until I went for a ride on the full tank of fuel and after 50kms it started to splutter and stopped like I’d run out of fuel. Would not start, click click! So, got towed home again, charged the brand new battery and hey presto, sounds fantastic again!! Any idea what the hell is wrong? Voltage is showing 11.9, all lights and horn working. I’ve got LED lights installed. Thanks. Steve (Australia)
Had that on my old Fireblade thought it had run out of fuel as it showed similar symptoms, turned out to be reg/rectifier as cookster stated above.
As above. Bike was running on battery power only and not charging. Once the voltage drops below a certain level the ECU will not power up. Time to do the Mosfet Reg/Rec conversion. Plenty of posts on the forum about doing it and what is needed. https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/mosfet-regulator-installation.68657/#post-1311866
