The 1299R will be 1199cc so it conforms with current race regulations. It was on Visordown earlier today. New Panigale will be 1299cc, R remains 1199cc - Motorcycle news: New bikes - Visordown
WSBK should allow them the extra 100cc, they desperately need Ducati winning again or the series is going to disappear
I think the road versions will be 1299 but the race 1299R will actually still be 1199. All getting very complicated, lol. Just make a 4 cylinder for racing and admit a twin cannot compete with the technology of these Japanese machines any more, of the same cc.
Apparently the new 1299 will have DQS+ with handle bar buttons for up and down gear shifts. Sounds pretty trick that if true.
Not that i can afford one, but i hope the 1299 brings back some midrange. For a twin I think the 1199 has gone the wrong direction.
Still only a fraction of what they paid though! I wonder how much it will be? £20k base, £24k S £27k R. Purely hypothetical but if I am right then I think prices are going to be rather silly.
I can remember people saying something similar when the 1198S/SP came out that they had the same as a 1098R. However an R is an R and the other models while very good at what they do, won't be the same exotic versions The new 1299 will be nothing like the Super Leggera in itself. So think on, its a new generation of bike and will be different to the 1199/ S/ R & SL. Yes some items/ trick bits will get carried over from previous models.
