Hello everyone and thank you for letting me join the forum. I currently ride a GSXR Thou and a Kawasaki zx10r. The last twin I had was a Honda SP1 that I sold with only 4k on the clock. Right now I fancy a Ducati 1299s from 2015-17. I have been in contact with a decent bloke regarding a purchase of said bike. He mentions that the carbon front mudguard was an added option on the s model and this example has a black plastic one fitted as standard. The bike is very clean and has an aluminum tank as opposed to steel. was this an option or factory-fitted. Some of the prices for low mileage examples seem near to v4 prices but I really fancy the twin. This was my mates' bike and bloody good but I am undecided. Cheers for any input.
I had one for a couple of years, fantastic bike, Ali tank and carbon front mudguard were standard on 1299s
Pretty sure the 1199/1299 models all came with alu tanks, steel was std om 899/959. My 1199s came with a alu tank as standard, not 100% sure about the base models. The R bikes came with partially brushed alu tanks. is it the bike pictured you are considering? Because that bike is a v4, not a 1299.
Mine certainly wasn't steel as a magnetic tank bag wouldn't stick to it, R had bare aluminium, S was painted. I've sold it now so can't check, so I maybe wrong.
No the v4s was my mates bike.I am still no nearer to finding a new bike 1299s wise.I nearly fell for this.lol
I believe that a couple on here have had this model. I have the naked version 800 dragster in the same colour. If you’re a big unit it’ll feel like a very powerful moped. Mines very twitchy on bumpy roads as it seems to have a very short wheelbase. I prefer the MV Veloce, but a pantipuller it isn’t. Good luck whichever direction you go.
Hang in there........ ive owned a ridiculous amount of bikes over the years from the MV to the S1000rr , 1199R and then some. The 1299 will be a phenomenal experience. You won't regret it.... Good time to buy, keeping checking the Forum and Bike Trader for those superb private sales followed by eBay etc.
