Frame number should be on the rear down tube in front of the battery tray unless it was a USA bike in which case it won't have one Some info can be found here https://www.bevelheaven.com/data-single.htm USA Bike had a foil sticker applied by the importer and the engine number was also used for the frame/VIN like this

Thank you, technical it's my second Ducati single. 20+ years ago I purchased a 160 Monza Junior for £50. In them days I didn't know how to reclaim a registration so sold it for £80 thinking that I did well dah !
