Ducati 749 Dark exhaust inlet diameter?

  1. Hello everyone, i am new here :) and i have just bought myself a Ducati 749 Dark 2004 model. and i have been looking at exhaust slip-ons, but they are stupid expensive.

i have a friend who can make proper exhausts, carbon ones. and im getting him to make me a tri-oval pair. but he needs to know the Inlet Diameter of the cans to go on the downpipes. And since its my new bike, i dont know what the diameter is or should be, i have searched everywhere and i cant seem to find the required information.

can anyone please help me? im sure you Ducati enthusiasts knows all this information :)

    cheers. :upyeah:

  2. hmmmm so no one knows?

  3. If your friend is going to make you one, I'm sure he has the tools to measure the inlet sizes, you can pick them up from halfords (the tool to measure them) dead easy or buy a termi

  4. well, im not taking apart the exhaust just so that he can measure the inlet size and put it back together again. thats why i wanted to see if anyone knew the inlet size... but, i just stumbled across an exhaust system on ebay and it measures the downpipes at 50mm. so i am assuming the can inlets need to be 51mm so it goes over the downpipes, am i correct?

he has measured it here at 50mm for the downpipes.

  5. Easy job to take the end can of but if its original they are different sizes, there's a manual you can download on here free that will show you the sizes you need.

  6. Ducati

here is the link you need

  7. oooh thanks :D

  8. Hi it's under technical help second on down. :upyeah:

  9. still cant find the diameter on both of the manuals :p

  10. Do you need the inside of both pipes or the outside of both pipes to get the measurement. If it is the outside look at the size of the exhaust gaskets as they are a snug fit. One is around 45mm the other is 50mm but I'm not 100% sure at the mo, but in the morning I can look at mine and let you know.

  11. I need the ID of the cans. why are both pipes different size? :\ it makes no sense.

  12. It's due to the length of the pipework from the cyl heads to the rear can. It gives the same volume in each pipe by being different diameters, on the asymmetric system. Get your mate to make you a full 2-1-2 system.

  13. aaah.... makes more sense, well. i dont think i have the money for a full system, even if he made it, he will charge quite a bit i assume. i wish i could get full termi.. but no money for that.

i was debating between either a GPR Deeptone or a Mivv carbon slip-on. the mivv is £590 and deeptone is £360, what one shall i go for? more leaning towards deeptone as its miles cheaper....

  14. I think Sparx have good reviews. Try second-hand.
