  1. Hello Troops
Well, the time has come to Hang up the Leathers and give up doing tack days.

So, I have for sale my much loved and modified 749/924cc Track day old faithful.
Now this may well not be everyone’s cup of tea. Because it is quite modified / non-standard, eBay special. If no one wants it. I’ll break it for the parts as it’s got all the right bits.

So here is the spec list.

    Big bore 749 motor.

749s bottom end and heads with 999 100mm bore cylinders and Pistal racing piston which are specifically designed for this conversion. Which brings the capacity up to 924cc. The combustion chambers have been re profiled to unshroud the valves to match the 100mm bores. I pretty much copied everything done by Brad Black in his 924 conversion, detailed here.BikeBoy.org - 749 With 924 Big Bore Kit (base model 749 engine). The flywheel was drastically lightened! Which really speeds up throttle response, though it does make the STM slipper clutch a bit tricky to set up nicely, so I have a set of variable thickness steel plates to adjust the clutch pack as it wears. It also has 999r injectors and a full asymmetric Termignoni exhaust system. The motor had a full rebuild when I did the conversion!

I guess some will ask. “Who did the engine build? Ducati’s are such exotic motors and need knowhow to make them reliable and perform well.” The answer? I did! After 25years as an F1 mechanic, the last seven building Mercedes F1 engines. I think I’m qualified enough to tackle this. Plus being able to walk over to Baines racing and ask Jeff’s opinion did help. (Jeff shimmed the valve clearances for me)

To compliment the increase in capacity I had an ECU built by a local firm. Which is easy to remap both fuelling and ignition as well as a host of other features i.e. quick shifter, rev limiter, data logger etc. This is a small family business which has always been super helpful as I got to grips with their software and getting the bike up and running. RTD - Home page.

The dash is an PI system2 dash which were more often used in F3 cars. But is useful for rpm, speed, temps and pressures. But this is quite basic tech now. And an off the shelf digital dash would be easier to use, however I never had time to look at the dash display and only used it for warming up before the first session.

The bike has Ohlins forks from an 848 which were re sprung with .95nm springs. And a carbon front fender. The calipers are from a KTM Super Duke which are the 100mm stud spacing. The front discs are off a 1198.

It has an Ohlins steering damper, Brembo RCS brake and clutch master cylinders, MK2 swing arm and Ohlins rear shock. Carbon rear hugger.

    Included will be.

Spare wheels with wets (will need replacing)

Selection of rear sprockets, Rear springs

    Tyre warmers & Paddock stands

Laptop with software for the ECU and Dash

    £3850 ono.
    Sold as seen.
