Ducati 848 Evo Fuel Line Placement Under Tank

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Michel88, Jul 16, 2024.

  1. Hi again guys,

Still working on the bike trying to figure out why it is lacking power.
As i wrote in last post i had a small drag race with my mate that has an regular 848 with leo vince system. My 848 evo with terminogni should be stronger but he pulled away from me hard so there is something not right somewhere.

What i have done so far is

-Compression test, 14 bar on both cylinders

-Checked the sparkplugs with multimeter and measured the gap (they seem to be ok but i did order a new set)

-Checked and opend the drain nipple under the tank, the breather one was open but the overfill was clogged, thats now fixed

-Someone on the forum helped me confirm i have the right map, start up message says SBK EVO 848 DP

-The fuel pump have the right sound, when turning the key its priming for like 2-2,5 sec and stops

-The rectifier seems ok, volt on idle says 14.1 v and 14.3 i think it was on 3000 rpm

I have now order a sparkplug tester, infrared temperatur tool to check if the headers increase in temp the same. Next plan is to measure the coils, in the workshop manual it says they shoudl be 450 ohm.

The ONLY thing i did notice is in the workshop manual it shows the two fuel lines under the tank shoud be in a spesific order. The left line should be in the rear connector and the right line should be in the connector in front. This was mounted wrong when i took the tank of. I heav heard it dosent matter where they are plugged in, but in the manual they have market a specific palcement for them.

If anyone have any inputs i would love to hear from you <3

  3. Fuel lines don’t matter which way around they’re fitted. Not to fuel supply anyhow.
Only way you’ll know about the power is to get it dyno’d. While the evo made a few more hp, they’re all at the top end. It was a cam timing change. A stock 848 probably makes more mid range torque. Might even be a bit more everywhere, I can’t remember. I’ve ridden both and prefer the earlier bike’s characteristics.
Torque is the key player, not hp, in roll ons.
