Hi, currently looking for an 848 to replace Mrs Slingy’s 748 and had the rug pulled out from under us again this weekend with a bike we had done a deal on. Not being an official 848S per se, how does insurance work. Do you insure as an 848 with loads of mods or as an 848S with high agreed value ? Can’t buy her something with many declarable mods as she’s not had licence for a full year yet so has zero NCB at the moment. Many thanks
Declare mods or take a risk. I had 848 evo pretty much the same, ohlins all round, slipper, carbon system, mapped. Just took the risk. Bit given this bike I’d be calling ins companies to see if you can get insured: it’s about as good as an 848 gets
Oh would most definitely be declaring stuff, insurance is enough of a nightmare without leaving them wriggle room in the event of an unfortunate situation. The bike we were about to buy had a few mods which we were quoted on and wasn’t to painful. This one with all the ohlins suspension might be a bit much though. I guess a phone call tomorrow will reveal all
Hi Slingy I declare the mods and always have done, its insured as an 848 with a few mods, Ohlins forks /shock and pipes and still works out cheap for what its got, i pay around £240 full comp with 7 years ncb for the 848 and my 748 with mods declared, Should you want the full reg number for a quote or any more info let me know and i will pm you and if you both want to have a look not a problem especially as you not far way from me.
