First thing, this is not my bike, it was recently offered to me and I politely declined, I‘m doing this as a favour. Second, what appears here is merely a recollection of a conversation, I’ve no images to offer and if I‘ve misremembered or conflated, it’s not intentional get over it. Lastly, the vendor is a busy man operating a small thriving business and whilst eager to move this on has precious little time / patience for inane questions. Please, only contact the vendor if you have serious interest in taking on this project. (Don’t ask me either.) The bike is 1992/93 white frame in road trim, it’s in pieces but all there, purchased as one of two bikes (the other being a 888 Strada) supplied by Colwyn Bay m/c’s several years ago, the 888 made it into his personal collection whereas the 851 was a little “tired” and deserving of some TLC. The engine has been fully rebuilt with all new parts where needed, the project effectively stalled when replacement valves could not be found however, since the eligibility for classic TT status more new parts have become available and new valves were purchased from racing friends in Europe. Therefore the cylinder heads will require reassembly, the engine is otherwise complete, the cases were vapour blasted prior to assembly. The frame has been stripped and repainted. It was suggested a successful negotiation would ideally be around £5k to £6k That’s all I know, best of luck with it.
