Reluctantly selling my ducati 916 to fund a track bike. 1997 with 23800 miles it left the factory as bi posto but was converted to a mono before I bought it. The bike has a comprehensive service history and has just had mot, belts, plugs, fluids and filters changed . It has also had all earthand starter leads upgraded. In the time I have had it,it has never missed a beat other than requiring a new neutral switch(never trust it) and a battery relay. I will include everything in the pics including books and paddock stands. A quick search finds a few bikes cheaper but I believe this example to be very honest and it always turns heads. Termi exhausts and sounds like thunder. Happy to have a sensible conversation about price with a genuine buyer but I won't give it away. The bike needs nothing except a lh outer air tube. It's a 30 min job to swap and the parts are 60 quid but I was holding out for a used set to keep the bike honest. 104bhp at back wheel on dyno last year. Considering what folk want for their 97 SPS models, that price's ok for the stock version. The only thing i'd have done differently in the photograph was not to have a puddle of oil on the ground underneath the machine, also remove the lockwire from the sprocket, Imo
Lol....irs water....just washed the bike on other side of patio and moved for photo....never had an oil leak and if it was leaking that bad it would have seized ages ago
Not quite sure why you are trying to be so difficult. But I'm going to presume that anybody buying the bike will check for oil leaks and also know that oil does not evaporate. All the pictures were taken in the same spot and the patch moves around...almost like water dropping on the hot patio and evaporating.
I think what @XH558 is kindly trying to tell you is about how you « staged » your bike for your listing. And I have to agree that no puddle is good under a bike when you stage it for a sale: water, oil, body fluids of all kinds… Same thing about the safety wire on the rear sprocket. That’s a track thing. Not implying you ever tracked this bike, but some people will think you did and walk away. Regardless, your 916 is absolutely stunning and I would not lower the price, unless in a hurry to see it gone. As mentioned above, not many show up in that condition and care level and many serious buyers are looking exactly for that. GLWS PS: It looks like it was imported from France (warranty manual). Is that the case?
Have I priced this wrong ,is the market messy or do classic bikes take a while to sell...I expected at least a sniff but nothing. I know cheaper are available but with the mono seat and the original condition and history it would get some interest. Welcome some feedback
Constructive feedback - possibly because its not a UK bike, even though it was PDI'd here matters to some people, also as already stated the lockwired rear hub hints at track use, even though it might never have been near one, i bought a similar aged UK 916 bip with good history a couple of months ago with 15k miles on the clock for over 2 grand less than your asking price, but i was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time...IMHO yours is priced too high.
