Hello everyone, I’m wondering if you amazing people could help me out and give me some advice, I have a Ducati 959 Panigale and I have an Austin Racing end can with an Termigoni decat pipe, I was going to purchase a T800 Upmap but then when looking into this you then have to purchase the maps on top of the actual device. I was wondering if it would just be easier to get the ECU flashed? However I have never done this before and I wonder if people could give me some advice 1. Is it worth doing and what Gains to you get from it 2. Where can I get it done and roughly how much does it cost 3. Do I just need to send the ECU or do they need the bike 4. What are the negatives to getting the ECU flashed? Any help would be much appreciated
Is it worth doing and what Gains to you get from it In most people’s opinion yes there are gains in smoother running from better fuelling and modest HP gains mid range rather than top end. Generic mapping costs up to about £250 and a full dyno map upwards of £600. 2. Where can I get it done and roughly how much does it cost A number of places including a couple of forum contributors plus Moto Rapido in Winchester and CJS in Bristol. 3. Do I just need to send the ECU or do they need the bike Some you just send the ECU for a generic flash although clearly there is no substitute for dyno time which needs the bike. 4. What are the negatives to getting the ECU flashed? Invalidates your warranty if you still have one. Any help would be much appreciated Hope this helps. Andy
I had a Rexxer flash on my last 959. I’ll answer your questions, however the first point I would make is that you (with Rexxer, and assume others) will have to ask your dealer not to do a software update any time you leave it with them because it will wipe the map. 1. It was worth it. The bike was much smoother. There were power gains, but how smooth it was was the biggest improvement. Generally more eager to get going. 2. Rexxer list dealers on their site. Mine was done at DWR in Aylesbury for around £450ish. 3. They had my bike for a few hours. Map was loaded and checked/tweaked on dyno. I’d definitely get it properly done if it were me. 4. Yes, it would invalidate any Ecu/engine warranty, and as I mentioned at the start, you would have to tell them it was there every time they serviced it. Warranty claims are a lot to do with the dealer though.... and some ducati dealers do ecu reflashes (MotoRapido, and I think @nelly does them?) so they would be able to offer advice on that.
I can do rexxer flash via post using one of the maps off their database. No dyno needed, although as mentioned they can be tweaked. Mine are 230 inc. return postage.
