Ducati 996rs Ownership papers.

  1. Hi all

i'm hoping someone can help me, I'm looking at buying a ducati 996rs in the future and will be viewing one shortly. I'm just not to sure what sort of paperwork to expect with a race bike. Obviously there won't be a V5 as it's not road legal but other than a receipt from the last owner ( who says he has a receipt from the ducati dealer he bought it from) what else can I expect to receive?

    Cheers

  2. Very little else I suspect if its a pukka race bike.............. Zero frame numbers and zero engine numbers (maybe). Someone on here should be able to help with a little info, spec, age, previous owners etc.

  3. There may be frame numbers. Only in exceptional circumstances will the numbers be missing, for example if the frame was replaced by a race team due to damage, or if the frame came directly from Pierobon.

if you have a relationship with a Ducati dealer, they should be able to find it on the warranty system. Really!

  4. The bike in question has a frame number (pierobon) which ducati has confirmed as a race bike, although they can't confirm the original owner, history or the original engine number. So you think it's normal to have no supporting Certs?

  5. Sounds good to me. Did they confirm the year?

Pm me some pics if you want.

  6. ...and engine cases are service items, so it would be very unusual to have the same cases as when they left the factory.

  7. Thanks for the info. Yes ducati confirmed a 1999 rs. And that was it basically. Thought I might of got a bit more info from them, but might of just been expecting to much. Anyway with work commitments I'll be viewing it in the new year. I'll post pics if I put a deposit down
