Ducati Abba Skylift for 748 - 9** Anyone used one or got one? I came across this on eBay today. abba Sky Lift Ducati 748 916 996 998 999 749 1098 1198 851 696 796 Monster 600 | eBay I know of the Bursig stands already and I have noted that they seem to state their adaptor only fits certain models of early Ducati and actually state that their adaptor particularly fits a 748 from year 2000 onwards and that earlier models have variations. Apart from the fact that I cannot see that this is correct because I don't know of any variations in the frames in this area I was wondering if anyone has actually used or got one of the Abba Skylift stands for a 748 - 9** model and how they find them. I don't really have enough room in my workshop to take a full bench type lift but one of these might fit the bill, although more expensive. abba Sky Lift - product details - Abba Stands, UK Any comments appreciated.
Red I stood and watched the demonstration at motorcycle live last year. I too was interested and the sky lift is a good bit of kit. I must say I was slightly worried about the paint on the frame though where the abba supports from. I went for a bench lift in the end, it was cheaper and perfect for resting tools on when working. Are you sure you do not have the room? They are virtually flat when not in use. Cheers Haydn
I do have room but I park my bikes side by side in the workshop and that takes up most of the width of the place. I notice some are on wheels and I wondered if you could put the bike on a lift (with it collapsed) and wheel it out of the way when not in use. That's why the Bursig\Skylift appealed as it's more compact and easier to store. I agree about price though, I have found a decent lift for half the price and they actually seem to be getting cheaper from when I last looked early last year. What make\model do you have out if interest. I really want something that stop me grovelling all over a concrete floor in this weather!!
I looked at a few, I really wanted the S.A.L one as it is a scissor lift rather than pivot but in the end I couldn't justify the extra money. Mine was off eBay CE certified etc 1000lbs SWL. It's on wheels but you can secure it by using the adjustable feet. When not in use for maintenance I just push it to one side and store the bike I'm using the least on it. Not sure I would risk trying to move it around with the bike on it unless your floor is like glass. Just wheel the bike off, move the lift and put the bike back on again. At the moment I've got 3 bikes and the lift in a single garage.
Is it this one by chance? 1000lb Hydraulic Motorbike Motorcycle Bike Service Shop Lift Ramp Table Bench | eBay I see they do an 800lb one as well, only £20 cheaper.
Yes that is the lift but mine was from a different seller, KMS. I was dubious about the quality but it's pretty good tbh. Be careful with the 800lbs ones as they are usually smaller in length and width and are no good for a paddock stand. I measured my bike whilst on the paddock stand and I needed the larger one. Hope this helps. Haydn
Yes, it does and thanks very much, I didn't realise they were sized differently. It is the same eBay seller only they have changed their ID. Looking at their feedback which is mostly positive apart from delays in delivery. Did you receive yours without any problem or were there any delays? Is that an Gubellini stand you have the bike on by the way, it might say Ducati Performance on it, if so then it will be the same as the one I have and I know the bike will then go on with the stand in place.
It's a genuine Ducati 848 stand. I'll have to check the details on it. If you buy the lift, make sure you put the feet down before loading the bike on otherwise the whole lot moves
I am looking at the hydraulic bench more seriously now and I think I will have to make more room for it. Thanks for the information, I clearly need the bigger lift.
