I found the connector under my battery on my MTS 1260 the other day for the alarm system and looked into it. €300 for a new unit and keys, is it worth it? I feel of a bike makes some noise when touched, it's only going to deter idiots playing with the bike. Not thieves, thoughts?
Does that price include the fitting kit ? From the web site, it looks like they are normally sold separately. I considered the Ducati system for my V4 but got a pretty ambivalent response when I asked about it. Very little information about what it actually is/does but I assume it’s just an alarm that functions alongside the standard immobiliser. I have a padlock with an inbuilt alarm that’s very sensitive to movement and loud which neatly locks onto the handle bars. No fitting kit, no wiring and if it malfunctions, it’s only £25 in the bin Andy
No fitting, I'll do that on my own. But no doubt ducati will want me to cough up enabling it on the ecu. And yea, from what I can gather it's movement sensitive alarm, simply a deterrent. I have a disk lock that has an alarm but I would like something like what ducati offer that is on/in the bike on at all times when it's not in use as my primary use for the bike is touring. So hearing an alarm if someone is fucking about with it is far more useful to me than a disk lock alarm for those short breaks where I leave the bike alone whilst I have lunch.
I have one that I picked up in a Ducati Manchester sale for around £200. It was specified for the 1200DVT but I took a punt and it works fine. Seems to have gotten a little more sensitive of late, need to look into adjusting that. Plug in and play with that socket and attached under the seat using 3M Dual Lock. I do have the seat in the high position which probably helps make the space... Yes, a deterrent only, I have various other security devices I use in conjunction with the alarm which is more of a first line of defence against meddlers. Didn't need enabling. I didn't bother with the LED that was included as that involved extra wiring and drilling a body panel. A couple of dash LEDs flash intermittently with it activated. Don't think they did that previously, well they did but stopped after a few minutes if I recall correctly.
Good to know it's plug and play, I'm gonna scourer the interwebs for any deals/second hand units. Thanks!
I have one I don’t use. I’ll look up the part number and see if it’ll suit. Only one fob, however. And yes, it wants a dealer modification, apparently
Mine is part no. 96610013A which seems to be only for 821 bikes. Seems to be the same as the rest, but they have different part numbers, and conflicting compatible model lists. ☹️ You’re welcome to try it, tho’
Just found the order confirmation, mine's part number is 96783510B. Cheapest I could find was this one.
I had one on one of my Panigales (either a v2 or a 959 - can’t remember which). Total waste of time. I disconnected it and think I binned it. Save your money and get a big F off chain.
Honestly, €300 seems pretty steep just to keep some random people from messing with your bike. If a thief really wants it, an alarm probably won't stop them.
