Ducati are going to do a survey....

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by andyb, May 26, 2013.

  1. not really ..but, if they did...of all Ducati owners. They want to know what US the users want in a sports bike, and then build it, homologate it to WSB rules and race it!

So heres your chance, be as historical as you like or look to the future, and create a bike that suits all the needs for the modern Ducati sports bike owner. So one to start...

In the right comparative price bracket for most recent Ducati sports bikes so what £12000 base up to £25000 for a R..

  11. Dare I say dry clutch, and decent starter/earth cables o and all to come with a set of stands like Al's?!!

  12. 1000 air cooled and/or 1200cc watercooled V twin engine with cam chains. (Although I dont mind belts) Engine has to have bags or grunt. 4 valve desmo heads.
Slipper clutch as standard. Can be dry or wet type clutch
Trellis frame. Single or dual sided swing arm.
Fuel injection only. No traction control, no abs, no fly by wire throttle etc.
No keys tied into ECU/Dash boards. Just full power and economy mode.
    No exhaust servos etc
Fully adjustable suspension front and rear.

Engine has to tick over properly and not stall at junctions.

    Adjustable bars, seat and footpegs.
Bigger ( real world fuel tank )

    Nice quality Brembo/marchesini/Ohlins components

Styled as a sports bike but would prob work just as well in a multistrada format.

Or all of the above with a nice watercooled V4 engine.

That would do me I reckon.

    ....like aprilia did

  15. Maybe they could build a D16

  16. yep!!!!!!!

  17. Oval piston V twin. Four conn rods 4 plugs. V4 in all but name

  18. A petrol gauge instead of just a light, or failing that some backup pedals so you can pedal it back home when you get caught out!.

  19. Don't kill off the air cooled motor ....

  20. Well, for a few years i've been thinking an 800cc(ish) V4 road bike would awesome. More usable than a 600, and more thrashable more of the time than the modern 1000cc I4s are. With all the current electronics and ABS it would be a great road bike, but sadly, not Ducatis style. From what i've read about the 1199, we need something between it's all top end rush, and the mental mid range of the 1198 but still in a desmo L-twin. In fact the more i think about it, the more difficult it gets. Fun road bikes and good track bikes are different animals all together.
